Perfect description. Ekker has the classic choir boy face. It's really hard to see what he actually does to get under our opponents skin. He obviously does something as he clearly irritates the shit out of the other team.

The reshuffled Wild combos are also interesting

Kaprizov / Freddy / Zuccarello

Foligno / Rossi / Boldy

Duhaime / Ek / Hartman

Shaw / Steel / Dewar

Freddy has a skill set and style of play that could make him a nice glue piece between the two scorers. Rossi has linemates who play well defensively while being able to help him get his offensive game going. Duhaime and Hartman are already meshing with Ek. Hartman is a more natural wing, which should help him.

Also interesting is that Dumbo has been bumped to the 3rd defensive pairing. Spurg is paired with Middleton and Brodin is paired with Addy.

We need to limit Dumba's ice time and keep him healthy up to the trade deadline.

Wild got back to their dipsy-do, dangle until I lose the puck ways last night and paid for it in a lose to a depleted Redwings team.
We aren't skilled enough to play that game....we need to play grind it out and get in the blue paint kind of game.
Gustavsson played a solid game, but got little support.
On to Chicago for the back half of a back to back this evening.....get a win tonight and make it a solid road trip.

If they want to play that game, they should have kept Fiala.

Dude, Fiala is gone.....you need to let it go at some point.

#mnwild lines tweaked w/o injured Foligno

Kaprizov-Gaudreau-Zuccarello
Boldy-Eriksson Ek-Hartman
Jost-Rossi-Duhaime
Shaw-Dewar-Steel

Middleton-Spurgeon
Brodin-Addison
Merrill-Dumba

Fleury

I think I would swap Boldy and Duhaime.

Nice SO win for the Wild...Hartman should never be the guy to jump into a fight.

It's not about whether you can win the fight. It's about standing up for your teammates.

It is a great thing to do; until you hurt your wrist and shoulder. Some aren't built for it.

That wasn't even a fight. Hartman 'stood up' there but you could tell. He wanted nothing to do with that. Sad ending though. I said at the time he broke his wrist but I haven't heard anything official. Carter hinted that it was shoulder related but too me it looked like his wrist.

Hartman's had fights before. Shit happens. I'll take guys like Hartman standing up for teammates over the Yeo era, where nobody stood up for anybody and they just whined to the referees.

I thought it was shoulder too.

What we need is for Dumbo take someone out with a dirty hit and tear his pectoral muscle in the ensuing fight again.

We have, as Carter said, a lot of grit out of the lineup right now.

Faligno
Harman (assuming he's out)
Greenway

Young guys are getting a good run out there.

Missing a lot of size in Foligno and Greenway too.
Last night we looked like a bunch of smurfs against some of those bigger Blackhawks.

Rossi gets his first NHL point with a helper on Kaprizov's goal A little surprised that it stood up to the high stick review.

Yup, I was thinking they would change it to no goal for sure.....was very surprised. Maybe they had a better look we didn't see. A nice win at home finally.

It helped that the initial call was a goal. The replay was not clear at all that his stick was above the shoulder. Since the cameras are all higher up, it's hard to be sure what level his stick was. That said, I wouldn't have been surprised if it had been overturned.

Kaprizov with 2 more last night. Remember last year at this time when fans were in a full blown panic because KK didn't have a goal?

Boldy just continues to produce, no matter who his line mates are.

Yeap. Good points. My favorite part of last night was KK's cocky as head-nod and "yup, that's a goal" to the bench. He had no doubts.

I'm really starting to like Merril's game too. He doesn't do 1 thing spectacularly, but he is a very solid presence.

Yup, he's what Goligoski was 7 or 8 years ago.....steady Eddie and doesn't make many errors.
