Let the games begin. Looking for 55 wins and a top 4 seed.

Good opening quarter. Unselfish team play on offense, very good defense…but against a pretty shitty team. OKC looks lifeless.

27-5 OKC run.

Embarrassing.

Daigneault is out-coaching Finch.

Gobert carried us tonight.

KAT forgot how to pass in the 2nd half.

McDaniels played his ass off.

Nowell was our best guard.

Ant looked awful. He still struggles with his feel for the game, and I'm not convinced the extra muscle mass was the right move...

A carry over from last year. The shitty 3rd quarter.

Thanks for the win Rudy.

Michael Grady is terrific.

He has a professionalism and authority that Benz never did. And he know how to let things breathe and gives JmPete room to do his thing.

couple observations: first, I agree Grady is an improvement. I didn't hate Benz but he gave irrelevant statistics so often, really grated on me.

Second, ref KAT, saw the Wolves+ extended interview with him and while I always liked him, the interview offered insights which raised my opinion of him as a person. That said I hope he, and/or the coaching staff rid him of that gawd-awful kick out that gets him called for offensive fouls. I don't know, doubt it is intentional, but it is a serious flaw.

Lessons to learn from last night, but good to encounter them and still get a win. Wolves will have more of these this season. McDaniels looked good!

Random observations

Very impressed with McDaniels’ play. The faith the team showed in him by refusing to include him in trades and then putting him in the starting lineup next to the 4 ‘stars’ seems to have done wonders for his mentality. He played with confidence. He provided the same energy Vanderbilt did last year but with more scoring prowess. That’s exactly what is needed.

I liked the unselfish play…for the most part, except for the dreadful 3rd quarter stretch where they forgot everything. Just like last year. Best first half team in the league and then it all goes to hell in 3rd quarter. Got to fix that.

Towns and Ant aren’t going to go 6-27 every night. But they did have 7 assists each. Encouraging sign.

And when they do have off nights, Rudy can save them. He absolutely did last night. His value immediately showed up as advertised. All of his shots but one came at or near the rim. Led the team with 16 rebounds, though the team got out rebounded by the smaller Thunder (embarrassing). And if you watch closely on defense I counted several times when just his presence subtly alters the opponents actions.

Agree with DL. Play by play guy Grady was fine. You want an announcer to be pleasing to listen to but not stand out, because the show is not about him. Grady gives that.

McDaniels finished with 19 points, smashed career-highs in both free throws made (nine) and attempted (10), and also added six boards, three dimes (all in the fourth) and five stocks, and recorded team bests in plus-minus (+14) and minutes (36).

An unexpected pacesetter among the younger Wolves.

That's why the Gobert trade wasn't happening if Utah demanded he be included.

Good to see that they seem to know what they're doing. McDaniels is a budding star and is the prototype wing in todays NBA. Glad we kept him he has a high ceiling it simply has taken a few years.

Kessler looked really good for Utah the other night.

Utah has tied it up in the 3rd after the Wolves dominated the first half. I’m SHOCKED!

One thing that really stood out is Ant has no idea what to do as the ball handler in the PnR.

Time and time again Gobert would set the pick, it would pull a 2nd man out to Ant, and not one time did he see Rudy rolling to the basket for an easy dunk.

If his feel for the game ever gets within even 50% of his physical ability, he’ll be the best player in the game.

Hypothetical - do we lose this game if we still had Pat Bev? I believe we continue to have a leadership issue

Ant seems to make up his mind that he’s going to drive early, and after that gets tunnel vision and doesn’t react to what’s going on.

He also doesn't really know what to do when he gets there. He misses a ton of layups because of a self-imposed degree of difficulty.

Up 10 in the first quarter. Put this one in the win column. What could go wrong?

Ant played one hell of a game. I love the kid.
Russell we should've traded.

The Wolves clearly have some things to iron out before they have any chance at a top 4 seed.
