Ya, they aren't in mid-season form yet. No surprise with the limited pre-season for KAT. I do like the talent on the roster. Golbert is awesome.

Going to be tough but the Twolves are trying to extend Naz and Nowell.

Nowell needs to be locked up.

I'm guessing Naz is to make him more valuable in a trade. It sounds like when Slo-Mo gets back, Naz will be out of the rotation again.

Minnesota has also engaged in extension discussions with guard Jaylen Nowell, but the fourth-year guard is expected to bypass a new deal and enter unrestricted free agency next offseason, according to sources. Nowell, a dynamic scorer, is averaging 15 points in three games to start this season.

Much better first half. Up 15. Good Ant showed up and was on fire. Towns was under control and more in the flow. I thought Russell had a quietly effective half with 8 points 7 assists.

Team shot better 3% than FT%. 13-21 vs 5-10. Wonder when the last time that happened.

And everything I said is out the door. Sloppy start to third. Lead cut to 7.

Still up 8 at end of quarter, so not a total meltdown. Ant bailed them out at the end with a couple of 3s.

Nice 4th quarter. Nice win. Nowell with another strong game. Agree with above . Lock him up! One of the best “6th men” in the league right now.

The Spurs, playing without injured key guards Devin Vassell and Joshua Primo, loaded up on Edwards (put more defenders on the side of the floor Ant had the ball) in an effort take away his driving ability. That didn’t bother him.

“San Antonio goes under all my ball screens, all my flare screens. I told myself any time they go under, I’m shooting it every time. It worked out tonight,” he explained, nodding his head.

It’s part of an exciting growth curve we’re all seeing play out in front of our eyes. Edwards isn’t just playing the game. He’s thinking it, reading it, and reacting to it in real time — a massive leap from his sophomore season. That leap is something Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch hoped would happen this year.

Now, defenses are switching more to in aims of keep him in front — but he sees it coming.

“The first couple times I come out, I kind of just play, like get off the ball, see what they doing,” Edwards said in the locker room after the game. “Then later in the first, that’s when I started to be aggressive once I realize, ‘OK they switching I’mma play off the catch. They can’t stop me now.’ So I kind of just read the game.”

A key part of that is understanding when to get off the ball, too. After his first pair of makes, he put the ball on the deck with the intention of drawing in defenders before kicking the ball back out to Jaden McDaniels in the slot for an open 3; that was the first of three made 3s Edwards created for others in the first. His playmaking got both McDaniels and Jaylen Nowell in a rhythm early, as both Seattle natives scored first quarter eight points on 3/3 shooting.

The young phenom created 27 of the team’s 39 first quarter points between his scoring and assisting, setting a dominant yet unselfish tone for the game. Edwards scored 16 in the first en route to his third game in six nights scoring north of 30 points.

The most we can offer him on an extension is 4/58. That likely won't get it done.

If we want to keep him, it'll have to be him choosing to stay here after the season as a UFA.

Nowell is gonna test the free agent market. You know it, I know it, we all know it.

I literally just said that.

Not to mention my post after the one you quoted also says that.

But good job, coming in 2 games later with a stale take.

Why doesn't the NBA regularly play weekday afternoon games like MLB does?

Why is MLB the only league innovative enough to lure people out of work for a special treat?

Pretty simple...the NBA makes enough already. MLB doesn't. NBA has more action and a game lasts 2 1/2 hours.

Funny. Someone else is making the exact opposite argument for the NHL. They say MLB makes enough already and the NHL does not.

Most of the time when MLB has an afternoon game it’s a getaway day. One or both of the teams have a game somewhere else the next day. Playing a day game makes travel easier.

It's also easier to get people to "play hookie" from work during on a beautiful summer day (and when the kids aren't in school). No one is sneaking out of the office to sit inside a building in December.

As far as the NBA goes, they're more concerned with TV viewership than attendance - that's where the real money is for them. And Weekday games during the day are not going to get a ton of eyes.

Interestingly a friend of mine who works in an NFL front office said that NFL and NBA teams would still make huge money with zero butts in the seats. But baseball isn't like that. They need the attendance dollars badly.

“Makes enough money already” is never a reason businesses don’t do something. There are other reasons.

I would guess because the NBA knows well it is a bad idea to have afternoon games. I would have to think ratings would suffer.
Baseball and basketball are not the same. Baseball is a great outdoor daytime activity/event to have a social gathering of people many that could care less about the baseball game going on and more about getting out of the office on a nice day.
Basketball is all indoors, and much more about watching the game and more constant action going on

Need to become a much better passing team. Edwards misses by 1 point for his 4th 30 point game.
Lakers are in trouble!

Win or lose, the Wolves continue to make way too much work out of each game. It has become real apparent that the Wolves big lineup is vulnerable to an up tempo transition game. Positions 1, 2 & 3 practically have to drop back into defense when the shot is still in the air. There are other chemistry issues. Ant has already stated he has trouble getting into the flow of the game with the two bigs on the floor together.
