We'll have to see how it goes but not sure if we need a 1st Round QB anymore.

Absolutely need a 1st round qb. Dobbs is good but just “good”. Take a chance on spectacular. Can always get another dobbs. Just don’t give dobbs something stupid like six years $185 million guaranteed.

You're probably right.

But, I think we are in a position of not having to sell the farm to get a top college QB.

Dobbs is still very underrated. So much so we lucked into him. Reminds me of Randall and Kapernick.
He is so smart in every aspect and the most athletic QB we have had since maybe Dante.

Do we draft a first rounder next year. Depends if we have more qbs than Hall on the roster. I would have resigned Dobbs at 2/10 after last week.

The conservative play calling in the second half and the use of that soft ass three man rush, almost cost us this game..

Dobbs is a playmaker, but he tried some throws that probably were very lucky not to be picked off..

I think he needs more time in KOC’s system and more work with Addison and Jefferson..

He has the throws to hock down pretty good, bu hock dropped a few today..

Mattison is just a guy, Chandlers is faster.

More snaps for Chandler wouldn’t hurt.

If Flores doesn’t get pulled away this offseason, I’ll be surprised..

His ability as a DC is freaking awesome, sans the “ three man rush” part.

Agree with every statement.

which quarterbacks taken in drafts '21, '22, and '23 would we rather have at our helm than josh dobbs right now?

trevor? - Purdy? - stroud?....

far from a guarantee....

dobbs is doing very well for us, and o'connell will make him better....

we're going to extend dobbs and pick a QB in the 1st in '24 - we should be in very good shape....

forget cousins...he had a great couple of games before his injury, but he's still the same player we've watched for six seasons - one playoff win...plays scared, just an employee, no leadership...and he's history....

I have a feeling if they go with Dobbs, they'll probably be happy with Hall as QOTF, and are unlikely to draft a 1st round QB, even though I hope they do.

i kind of think Kwesi's ego (that of most GM's) will make him pick a QB...

He wants to put his stamp on the franchise by picking the next Mahomes and he will trade for one of the top QB's even if we are out of the top 15 or 20

I think it will be a little like the trade for Kirk when Case did so well with us...

Case is probably a good comparison to Dobbs in the level of QB the evaluators think he can be...a fringe starter/great back up

Unless we win the SB with Dobbs, I can't believe Kwesi won't go hard for one of the top in QB's this year's draft

(LOL double entendre not intended, but apropos nonetheless)

Seeing that Dobbs spent time with the Browns, Browns fans must be apoplectic about the price they paid for Deshaun Watson (three 1st round picks, one 3rd, and two 4ths) plus having to sign him for $230 million for five years. Got to give Kwesi major props for this one.

o'connell put the breaks on dobbs yesterday - that score should have been 38-13....

if dobbs can get us even one playoff win, we have to give him another season....

qb franchise tag: $32mm...transition tag: $28mm...for informational purposes only....

Chase Young debuts with 49ers and gets 5 sacks. We signed Lowry who has 5.5 sacks the last 2.5 years (0 this year).

Must be nice to acquire impact players.

5 wins in a row sure has you in a joyful place tonight.

Like your post bitching about the 3 and outs and 'cast off' plays posted 45 minutes before my post?

Stroud is already one of the 5 best QB's.

Fortunately for Kwesi there are still quite a few games left for the Dobbs eval. In a couple of weeks there will be enough video for DCs to game plan for, so the last month or whenever will be telling.

If he does well it will be interesting to see what he's valued at. There are a lot of QB needy teams, but what are they willing to pay a journeyman?

Maybe like Case Keenum's Denver contract in 2018 plus a bump for the salary cap having increased?

Lots of games to evaluate Dobbs. I hope he works out because drafting a QB is total crap shoot. About 1 a year ends up being a keeper.

My feelings on the game

Everything went right in the first half.

Offense was clicking. Defense was stifling.

Then they got ultra conservative up by 21 at halftime.

But this team, of all teams, should know (thank you Colts), that this lead is not insurmountable. If we scored 24 in the first half, they can in the second. and they have the weapons to do it if you are not careful. Now, Granted, any coach worth his salt is going to make adjustments at halftime. That being said, don't change what you are doing until they stop it.

Jameis Winston threw a wrench into what the Saints were doing cause he makes throws, dangerous ones, that most QBs wont. On BOTH TDs our guy is right there. Winston saved us and killed the Saints chances at a comeback by being Winston. The reason he is not a starting QB anymore is his propensity to throw the ball to the wrong team.

Vikings got too passive in the second half and made this game way closer than it needed to be. On both sides of the ball.

Players that shined:
Ty Chandler. it's not that he's physically any better than Mattison...it's that has better vision. He slipped through holes that Mattison would have missed. and once he's there he looks like he's shot out of a cannon. Dobbs keeps dealing as long as KOC doesn't neuter him. TJ Hockenson is a WARRIOR. DJ Wonnum is overshadowed by Hunter, but he's having a great season so far. Hunter is a beast and will get paid big by someone this coming offseason. I'd like to keep him but I have a feeling they are going to let him go. Mekhi Blackmon...rookie CB was tight in coverage, made a pick and nearly had another on the hail mary. Been noticing him more.

OLine is playing a lot better now. Best I've seen in years.

KOC has these guys believing, playing as a team. He recognizes that he's not coaching perfectly and is trying to improve himself...players tend to notice that.

It was all doom and gloom after the 0-3 start, but we are now 6-4 with a softer schedule the rest of the way and solidly in second place in the North. Detroit has to feel us breathing down their necks.

We played without Cousins, JJ, KJ, and Akers with a WR group of Addison, Powell, Mundt, Jackson, and Nailor and we found a way to dominate the first half of the game. Now do that for ALL of a game and keep doing that.

Best coaching I've seen so far in a long life of watching. Bud Grant was at the end of his career when I started watching. KOC is doing to get better and we will be happy to have him. He's making some serious lemonade out of the lemons he's been given. Coach of the year should be considered.

yes, trevor, purdy, and stroud might be the only qb's drafted in the last three years a better choice than dobbs....

The career parallels are certainly there. Denver contract was 2 yrs, $36m with $25m guaranteed. He was gone after a year. Of course Keenum's journey has no bearing on Dobbs but his next contract could be Keenum-esque.

judd zulgad used geno smith as a comparison...$25mm/yr over three years, $40mm guaranteed...i think that's high....

Hockenson playing (and succeeding on such a high level) through that rib pain makes him the ultimate gamer. I was astonished to see him force his way up off the turf over and over again after making catches, taking hits, and landing hard.

Kind of crazy, after the we started, that we are only 2 wins behind Philly and 1 behind KC, Det, Balt.

Nice stretch we are in ...

- which still has us 7th in the NFC

Hockenson is 75% of the star we need him to be. He gutted it out today and some of his best highlights the last few weeks have him dragging escaping dragging guys for extra yards. If he could just start making more of some of the tougher catches.

I did it again. I posted basically the same thing you posted a day earlier and a page behind. I should have just quoted this one. Sorry again!

If Dobbs is the long term answer. I hope they low ball him, seriously. Somebody is going to come over the top and over pay for Dobbs and sell that to their fan base?

I think some teams bid against themselves.
