And I made that edit before Ek scored that goal BTW. I am a great hockey mind.

Have to keep Ek, he is our most consistent player and our best center.

Totally agree. I’m not a hockey sweater buying guy and don’t go to many games. But if I did, it would be an Ek one. Without question.

A dominant 2nd period of play by the Wild, but no scores to show for it. Hope that doesn't end up be the bad omen we have been seeing lately.

Wild finally get a win and for a change there were no passengers. A good game to watch too.

They need a total youth movement. I’ve been saying this for a couple of years now. Why fill the roster with has beens who never were just to sneak into the playoffs and take a quick exit. It makes no sense. Stop pretending you’re a contender.
Rossi, Kasparov, Faber, and maybe Boldy if he gets his act together. Everyone else, blow it up.
Edit: Okay keep Erickson Ek too. He’s bad ass.

It is the middle contracts that kill us...Hartman isn't cheap any more.

I was really upset with Zuccarello's first contract but he performed.

Lets see how this progresses over the next 2 months. Almost all hockey teams get the "new coach" boost. Where it goes from there is the important part.

Different set of eyes that results in better PK and Boldy scoring. So far so good.

Hynes did nothing for the PK or Boldy. The guys just finally put in an honest effort and had no passengers for a change against and average team. Like Jeff said, time will tell.

Dewer with a hat trick, who would have thought.....
Of course the Wild decide to play a good game when all I can catch is the 3rd period.

Dewar has more than doubled his goals for the year. Probably carry him to February.

And Middleton has his first season in which he scored four goals - and we've still got a lot of games to go.

He also scored a 4th and I believe had an assist.
The 4th goal was disallowed after an off-sides review.

Team is showing up, except on face-offs.....as usual

Wild having their way with the Hawks. Gave up a few good chance early on the PK, but Chicago hasn't scored so that's good.
It looks to me like Bedard is their PP specialist and doesn't really do much other than float around the slot area looking for open ice and passes.

4-1 final and it was never really close. Our best period was the first when it was 3-0, and we never really had to do much after that. Donato with a couple of cheap shots on Spurgeon was probably the Hawks highlight of the game. Rossi got 2 goals and continues to look good. All in all we got 2 points that we should have. Hawks going for another top draft pick, but since there isn't another Bedard it may be a fair draft this year.

Can't emphasize enough how badly the Wild need Rossi to keep this up and keep taking the next step. The Wild have so few options for top 6 forwards, they have to run the table on developing Rossi, Ohgren and Yurov.

I agree completely. Developing our top prospects has to be the number one job while we are still in cap hell. We are stuck with a full group of bottom six forwards trying to play above their skill level for the next few years. We have Rossi, KK, and Ek as solid top 6 and that is about it.....we need more speed and skill.

I would put Boldy in that group too. I know he's having a 'blah' season so far but if he can right that would be massive.

Yeah, I forgot Boldy.....his play has been forgettable so far, but he does fit for sure.

The Wild take down the Flames 5-2 and looked in control the whole way again......
They look like a completely different team since Dean got fired. Almost as if they were holding back and now are free to skate and play like they can. Could shoot to hell a higher draft pick, but they are fun to watch again.

Mats Zucarello is in a video essentially crediting Hynes' tweaks as the reason they've been playing much better. I hope he's right because it means the run of wins is not a fluke, but rather good playing by a team that has made some adaptations.

That would be so sweet to see sustained progress by this bunch.
Deano was obviously not the answer.
