BG has gone into hiding since it came out that he's an A-hole to work for......
He has built of team of 3rd and 4th line grinders and given them all contracts longer than they should be. Our top draft pick from last year is struggling badly at Wisconsin and it appears most of our young guys in Iowa are 3rd and 4th line grinders as well. Things aren't looking very bright for this team for the near future. At least we won't have to worry about watching them get steamrolled in the playoffs again this year. I hope our so-called draft guru does better than last year with a higher pick......

Couldn't agree more Jeff. The Wild have no core, no identity and they're completely capped out. Their best AHL prospects are all defensemen. Their best offensive prospects are all in Russia and God only knows when they'll get here.

BG needs to trade every money player, willing to waive a no move clause and blow this thing up.

Maybe BG planned this all along as a way to tank 2 seasons in a row using the same over-hill players.....

Fleury finally gets win 552 and passes Patty Roy. The team looked great last night, but they always seem to do to the Islanders what Dallas does to us.....blow out.
I suspect we will shortly go back into a losing streak and keep the tank rolling. Good for Fleury, carry on.

Man, just listened to a really depressing podcast about our situation. We all know we are not going anywhere this year but the disturbing part was they said, with confidence, that BG knows NOTHING about the cap and how it works.

They asked him specifically if Spurg was going on LTIR and he said he wasn't sure yet. A reported pointed out to him that he had to because we didn't have enough cap room for him not to. He had no clue how that worked. They said that the league is actually advising him on it.

That is insane to me. How can you have a GM that is clueless on the cap?

He ran off our cap expert and according to Russo the league is actually advising the team now. It sounds like it will be that way until the season is over and then they will look for someone that has a clue about working with the cap.

Perhaps Leo was a little rash in running off Fenton. It doesn't seem Billy's people skills are any better than Fenton's.

#mnwild captain Jared Spurgeon is having season-ending hip and back surgery. He’s expected to be ready by next season. With Spurgeon on LTIR, Wild can exceed the cap by roughly his $7.575M AAV (minus callups). I anticipate Bill Guerin is now in the market for a pending UFA dman

Got the ESPN feed tonight

Can't stand it. We played well in the first and got out 1-1. Dewar almost got us the lead late on a shorty breakaway.

Our entire defensive system took a 5 minute nap and we gave up a couple really stupid goals. Middleton got us one back at the end but a really bad call puts them on the PP with fresh ice. I'll be shocked if they don't convert.

If Gus wasn't excellent during that 5 minutes this would be much worse

This team is so far away from being relevant. If he spends that money he needs to be fired ASAP. Sell everyone you can minus JEE and Faber and bring up young guys.

The Lightning are 3-3 on the PP and it's been easy for them. 6 goals with a lot time to go and, believe or not, Gus has been outstanding. Just a terrible product right now.

3 for 3 on the PP's with 2 minutes to go and we just finished our 2nd (0 for 2) with no shots on the whole thing. We used to be the little engine that "could". We've become the little engine with no talent that can't.

I think we were all resigned to the fact that we would suck until we got Parise/Suter money back and our young core developed. 1 will still happen but the later is looking pretty bleak.

I think MN sports franchises are so starving for "superstars" that we spaz out and crown good talent as "great" so prematurely. Looking at you KK and Boldy.

Another 3+ goal beat down. 7-3 in a place we usually play surprisingly well. Good thing is Rossi scored again so he's probably inline for a 7 year 200 million deal.

Hey, we had a one-game winning streak. As Minnesota fans, isn't that the best we can expect?

This Wild team is about done for the season, I don't care what BG says.....
We are stuck with this team for the next couple of years due to all the contracts he dished out earlier this season so we may as well get used to it.
On the bright side, we still have some great college teams to watch in MN with the Gophers vs Ohio State and SCSU vs ND both on local channels tonight....don't need to watch Florida pound the Wild again tonight.

Crap!

Tulip had to leave the game with an injury (I'm assuming as I was in the garage for a second). No reason to pull him so he had to tweak something. You know I'm not a fan of his but I don't want anything to get in the way of us being able to get ANYTHING at the deadline.

P.S. - he let in a terrible goal for his one contribution

I watched off and on and was happy to see they even got a win tonight. I was watching when Duhaime got into a fight and won on a knockout. The dude went down like a rock and had to be helped off the ice.

Gophers taking care of business leading 5-2 with 4 minutes left.

Usually Duhaime jumps in for his teammates and gets his ass kicked. The knockout win is quite a surprise.

Good thing the lads were so good on the power play. They stunk at even strength. Kaprizov managed a Dumba last night. He was -3 in a game while scoring 3 points.

Yeah, last night was their 1 out 5 wins unless they go on one of their runs just to mess with our draft status.....

And, like clockwork (unless I'm off base but I don't think I am given history), the local media is all up his ass. Tulip goes off with a tweak and the Strib headline is "Wild win but at WHAT price?" like it's a massive blow. I don't pay for that service so I can't read the article but i'm guessing they are talking about his injury. What a blow to our promising season

We are so blessed that he's agreed to play for us

And, don't get me wrong. Personally I have no issue with the guy. By every account he's a top notch guy. I've never heard a bad thing about him. In fact, quite the opposite. I'm just so sick of being a MN sports fan and our media sucking up to anything that might be a positive. The "we're so lucky to have him" and pining for superstars makes me puke.

I want Cheryl Reeve to come out and just blast the state and tell everyone to wake the "F" up

I know it's not the "be all" stat but 10 shots after 2 periods?? That all we can muster?? Man, this team needs a massive infusion of talent.

Just got home and tuned in for the 3rd period and they are looking pretty good so far. Not many shots on goal but they have had chances.....just missed the net or hit a pipe.
