Rossi is also winning FO's which is a huge bonus. We now have 2 options late in games in that respect.

Haven't been able to sit down and watch a game yet.....

The one thing I wish they could have done this year is figure out a way to keep Nyquist.

They read a stat last night that with Spurg/Boldy out and the dead cap we were playing with a -38 mill versus the Habs. That's nuts and explains why we couldn't.

2-1 with an easy 5-2 win last night. I'll take that start.

#mnwild have recalled Sammy Walker and placed Alex Goligoski on LTIR. Gives Wild some roster flexibility

Here's more from Russo at the Athletic:

The Minnesota Wild recalled right wing Sammy Walker from AHL Iowa on Wednesday afternoon and placed defenseman Alex Goligoski on long-term injured reserve, allowing them to exceed the $83.5 million salary cap and facilitate the call-up. Here’s what you need to know:

Star third-year forward Matt Boldy is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks with an upper-body injury, creating the lineup hole for Walker.
The Wild are tight against the cap and couldn’t afford Walker’s salary for their first game without Boldy, Tuesday’s 5-2 win over the host Montreal Canadiens.
Goligoski, who was wearing a walking boot in the locker room after Tuesday’s win, was injured when struck by a puck during Monday’s practice at the Bell Centre.
What does this mean in terms of the cap situation?
The Wild will not accrue daily cap space until Goligoski comes off LTIR. When he does, the Wild must become cap-compliant. But by putting him on LTIR, they have more roster flexibility. Placing Goligoski on LTIR took them from having roughly $51,000 in cap space to $1.95 million in cap space. It also means that Goligoski must miss a minimum of 10 games and 24 days. Now that they’re in LTIR, a player’s bonuses count toward the cap hit, not just his salary. That means Walker’s cap charge will be $925,000. This gives the Wild $1.07 million worth of cap space left if needed, according to Puckpedia. The Wild had the option to call up Walker on an emergency basis after playing Tuesday’s game short one forward but opted to go the LTIR route instead.

What will Walker bring to the Wild lineup?
Speed and skill. Walker, the three-time former University of Minnesota captain, tied for the team lead in the preseason with four points (two goals) in three games. He led AHL Iowa with 27 goals and nine power-play goals last season, ranked second with five game-winning goals and fourth with 48 points. In nine career NHL games, he has a goal and an assist. In 144 games with the Gophers, the 2017 Tampa Bay Lightning seventh-round pick scored 48 goals and 112 points. It’s possible Walker will slide right into Boldy’s spot on the second line with Marcus Johansson and Joel Eriksson Ek.

UnFng-real. Tulip gives up 4 goals on 8 shots and 3 are just mind blowing. What an incredible period and that’s not a good “incredible”

Flower with a sizzling .789 save percentage for the game. Just pathetic.

Won’t be a shock, I’m sure, but I’m so done with Weed (he’s been downgraded). When he’s on, he’s pretty good. When he gives up an early goal he turns to crap and never battles out of it. I’m not sure but I assume it’s his ego and how’s he been built up.

Today, Evason is whining about the goal that should have been disallowed. Nothing about lackluster play or putrid goal-tending. That's what losers do.

It was a good goal too and one that any peewee goalie who has been taught to keep his stick on the ice saves.

I didn't really see a stck touch the puck after it was kicked, but yeah there was no excuse the Dandelion letting it through. Anything going through the 5 hole at that speed is unforgivable.

I had the Kings feed and they showed how the puck spin changed as the tip of his blade went over the top. It didn't specifically show the blade making contact but the rotation did change at that exact moment. I have no problem with the call either way but you're right. Unforgivable non-save.

Dean's an idiot for playing him. They made Gus the team #1 and yet you go with a soon to be 39 YO and make Gus wait a full week to get back out there? Just pure stupidity.

I kind of like the Dandelion moniker...

Nobody will mind if I use "Floppy Dandelion" on occasion I hope. The game was already 4-2 when I started watching and I couldn't believe that many goals were scored when the shots total was barely over double digits. Time to get back to Gus and let him settle in to a heavy workload. The only time Floppy Dandy should see the ice is on the backend of a back to back.

Be thankful. He was totally brutal in the first. He settled in but there was only 1 that you could say was legit out of the 4. The other 3 were directly his fault.

I saw bits and pieces of last night and wasn't impressed at all. Kirill and Zuc are trying to see who can make the fanciest pass between 3 defenders instead of playing hockey and shooting on net....
The defense as a whole is in trouble when our best player has been a rookie who is still learning the NHL game. Brodin appears to miss Dumba more than we thought anybody would....could be a long season if things don't improve.
