We should be getting Spurgeon back soon, right? He's been skating with the team for several days now.

Sigh. I'm wondering if our superstar Kaprizov still has it in him? He used to be able to dodge and dart and leave defenders wondering what just happened. I know he's not what's ailing us, but it's weird to see him come down to earth.

Kirill appears to be off for some reason. Like you said, he just doesn't have the burst and seems to always be mishandling the puck and giving up turnovers frequently. On the PP he is now deferring and passing up shots he would take last season....a bit of a confidence issue too I think.

All right Wild fans. It looks like Matt Boldy returns to the lineup tonight. This is a much needed shot in the arm. In his short time in the NHL, I don't think anyone on the team has as big of an impact on how the Wild play as a whole.

With Boldy (and hopefully Spurgeon soon), we should be able to right the ship. We need to get a few wide-margin wins to let us breathe for a while.

I tune in to the 3rd period and see a new look line of Boldy-Rossi-Kaprizov and they scored on their first shift of the period. About time they change up the lines a little bit.

Bad defense and shaky goaltending. It continues. Our ST's are also "special" in a bad way.

No offensive depth either. I'm sorry, but I'm going to go broken record again. Guerin made a choice before last season that it was too much work to move Dumba and one or two dime a dozen contracts to resign Fiala. Since his last year with the Wild, Fiala has been a point plus per game player. Meanwhile, the Wild have struggled to sustain zone time, score goals or even get shots on goal when KK's line gets shutdown. We got Faber, which is good, but it's much easier to acquire defensive defensemen than it is to get a point a game player. They drafted Liam Ohgren who should arrive next year or the year after and who knows what he'll be.

Roster math isn't that complicated. You move veteran role players to make room for big scorers.

Instead Billy locked up our veteran guys for 2-3 more years and now we are stuck with them as their play declines with age and it locks out the younger guys for the time being. When the cap hell is done with, our Iowa team should have more talent than the MN team.....

Exactly. Why extend dime a dozen players?

I'm guessing it's because everybody else will be spending dimes on them and we will only have nickels to offer.

There are guys that can be signed for league minimum who can do what some of these guys do.

An over the top stubborn coach and a cap strapped team is not a good pairing.

Agreed. Or is it a GM that insists all young guys need to play in the minors and would rather spend money on marginal veterans?
I would rather we see some of those young guys now and let them take their lumps.

Minnesota Wild---What's wrong?
Every single thing: This is one easy-to-play-against hockey team that has completely lost its grit-first identity and is married to its aging roster. The Wild are wet noodles defensively (31st in the NHL at 4.20 goals allowed per game), can’t hold a lead (led in five of seven losses), chase every game (lead NHL by trailing in nearly 310 minutes), can’t get a save (28th in the NHL with an .884 save percentage), can’t kill a penalty (league-worst 63.6 percent kill), have a superstar in Kirill Kaprizov who has the yips and have zero salary cap flexibility. Other than that, everything is fine. — Michael Russo

Go Wild....prove us wrong.

If you got something to say to Deano, you’d better be quick. He won’t last much longer

All I can say is the Gophers vs UMD game is much more entertaining.

Tuned back in with 5 to go and was shocked. From that point on, probably earlier, it was a different team. Attacking offense led by the youngsters

It was in the shootout when I tuned back in just in time to see Boldy's lucky bounce for the game winner. Floppy made a hell of a save right after to get the extra point. Nice to see them get in the win column.
I hope this is a game that can kick-start them into a run of wins now, they sure need it.

That comment got me thinking....rather than attacking we have been playing to "not lose" since about the time of Yeosie.
Must be the Minnesota way....
