I almost kind of like that last years trade attempt came out now so there’s a little time to soften - Kwesi was going to sell the farm and all the cows - for Richardson. But any of the top 4 or 5 teams probably have Kwesi’s caller ID tagged as; Kwesi Money.

While I fully endorse them spending their wad on a shiny new QB I’d like it to hurt as little as possible. I also don’t want them to play a game of chicken with how far they figure Daniels will drop. The guy I want and therefore clearly the one they want. We also have to find a willing partner before the opportunity passes.

#1. Too expensive and not needed. The spot is reserved for Williams likely, Maye Maybe.

#2. My target team. Do they want a draft haul over a potential franchise QB? I’m only a little worried they don’t go Maye if they do pick.

#3. Danger danger. Gonna want a QB. Who’s next if not Daniel’s? If we don’t move up is it likely gonna be another team moving up?

#4. Won’t take a QB? They’re not afraid to sell but are they the team that turned us down last year? I 1st thought it was the Colts at their spot but Arizona seems more likely. Maybe Jefferson is in play here. Jefferson and 2 next year could get it done.

#5. If Daniels is still on the board they have to pounce here. It’ll likely be as costly as it would be for 2,3, or 4 but so be it.

I want no part of picking a QB, whether at our spot or higher, and bringing back Cousins for 2 more years. I assume he won’t come back for just one but regardless, put on your big boy pants and get a guy and get him ready to go. WCS a bridge QB for 1 year or less that isn’t Cousins.

Which of the QBs is most like Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson or even the younger guys Richardson? I think Maye and Daniels are moreso that type than Williams.

The only hope for Daniels, IMO, is if 1 of the top 3 opts for Harrison Jr. If not, they all go top 3 in any order.

Wonder if Chicago's goal this draft is to get a top QB and Harrison Jr.

I'm going with Penix and Harrison thereby skipping the Jr. part. Too many extra electrons! It's like with Irv Smith, nobody would think the posts are referring to his dad.

JMO but the offense is already pretty set (outside of the obvious QB thing). I would spend 1 resource and that is a legit C and role with

QB
JJ
Addison
Powell (needs to be resigned)
WR#4
Hock/Oliver/Mundt
Chandler/RB#2

Darrisaw/Riesner/newC/Ingram/O'Neil

I would try to get a C or RB#2 via FA (not breaking the bank) and draft the other on day 3. The rest of the kitty needs to be spent on D. We have weapons. That isn't our issue.

IOL is a real weakness, with C the most obvious need. IMO a real upgrade at C will require more than a cheap FA or day 3 pick. I'd use a second round pick, but then the defense gets basically nothing this year.

However.......... If Penix goes to say Atlanta, Kwesi could go for any number of defensive players at #11. We're not in a position to trade up and gamble in the exclusive areas. We're more like a guy who got $500 in severance after being fired for shitty performance. He's on a high with visions of sugarplums and is headed to the casino. To play the slots. And maybe make a few bets on blackjack to feel he's a high roller.

That’s why I’d target 2.

Ask around with your Washington connections is they see them willing to move off the 2nd pick.

Even then Daniels won't drop to #11. Not a chance.

This was a terrible post by me. I was rushing to get my kid off to school. What I meant was hoping one of the top 3 opts for Harrison so that Daniels falls to around 5-6 and moving up to snag him. Agree 100% he doesn't last to 11.

Yeah, you're probably right about the C aquisition. Will take some resources.

FWIW, I'm seeing a lot of mocks without Penix in the 1st Round.

I can see QB’s going 1,2,3 and us trading down in the 1st and grabbing one.

I agree with Todd M and we would probably get stuck with one of the second tier quarterbacks anyway. If we can pick up a second round and another pick I could probably live with that. I am also realize if we have no Kirk it could be a long year next year.

Coming off an Achilles, he'll need to prove to management that he is healthy before he garners any type of real contract. I wouldn't give the guy a dime, but that's just me.

Name sounds like Michael Panics.

Huge red flag.

Or maybe he’s Michael Phoenix, ready to rise from the ashes of the National Championship Game?

Dusty says trade away both first and 2nd rounders in 2024 and 2025 to move up for Maye.
If Penix, Nix, or McCarthy are there in the 2nd are you gaining much with Maye?

Are the Vikings in the position where the Kwesi tendency of moving back might be the best option ?

Trade back about 10-15 spots, then draft a QB like Nix, Penix, or McCarthy, one that you view is falling ?

Or do you just stay put and either draft a CB, a DL, a Guard, or a big WR ?
