The older thread was getting big and slow. Who do the Vikes sign next? Can we get Fields so he can play RB? :)

Not sure Cousins can afford it.

No more of this!

Happy days are here again
The skies above are clear again
So let's sing a song of cheer again
Happy days are here again
All together shout it now
There's no one
Who can doubt it now
So let's tell the world about it now
Happy days are here again
Your cares and troubles are gone
There'll be no more from now on
From now on
Happy days are here again
The skies above are clear again
So let's sing a song of cheer again
Happy times, happy nights
Happy days are here again

Cousins is finally gone. Ding dong, the witch is dead! Now he can go hog someone else's salary cap. I highly doubt he'll have a Stafford kind of season and win the Super Bowl.

Atlanta is stupid. They sign a 35 year old QB off an Achilles injury and one playoff win to 45 million per season and 84 million guaranteed? Have fun w/ that.

Sporting News: Already fourth all-time in career NFL earnings, Cousins is set to add to his $231 million total over the next four years. The 35-year-old played on a one-year, $35 million contract in 2023. He previously played out a two-year, $66 million deal and three-year, $84 million deal in Minnesota. All were fully guaranteed.

Fron a DN comment:

The Wall Street Journal had a good article on Cousins today, and it is titled "The NFL Quarterback Who Gamed the System—and Hit the Jackpot."

You get the gist, but here is the top 10 career earnings' list in the article. I added playoff victories to the list.

A-Aron Rodgers - 12 playoff wins / 1 SB win
Matt Stafford - 4/1
Tom Brady - Yeah, we know.
Matt Ryan - 4/0
Drew Brees - 9/1
Big Ben - 13/2
Russell Wilson - 9/1
Peyton Manning - 14/2
Philip Rivers - 5/0
Eli Manning - 8/2
Kirk Cousins - 1/0

Zim must be rolling over in his "grave".

We finally got rid of Cousins and spent a fortune on defense...

I still wish Zimmer would have punched Kirk O' Chains right in his corny mouth during that sideline scrap. This guy has rubbed me the wrong way for years. Mr. Christian ethics boyscout who doesn't care about money, but grubs for every penny and hamstrings salary for all other positions. If you're a money-grubber, so be it. I hate Aaron Rodgers, but can at least respect that he's not two-faced about it.

Hmm, I don't mind that Cousins is gone. Pretty neutral on that. But I'd be careful to break out the champagne until the whole thing plays out and we see how the QB saga ends, not to mention how it will affect JJ's status.

The wheel's still in spin.

I don't think anyone is expecting champagne at QB, but a new direction.

JJ just needs his yards and he's happy. Even Mullens showed he could get JJ the ball.

Man, you're probably right, but I'm just excited for a wide-open future. If it's Sam Darnold and a 1st round rookie or however we do it... I'm glad we have a GM who stood his ground for once on the QB negotiations.

Move up for Jayden Daniels!?!

We'd have to get to 2 and since Washington wants him almost impossible. Better chance of trading for Howell. I like Brissett OK.

Yes!

How many first round picks plus good players are you willing to give up for Daniels. It would cost more than our next 3 first round picks I'm almost certain.

Yep. Kirk gone could easily mean JJ gone. Maybe we get a different JJ .

Alright, so with the FA signings we now need the following starting positions:

QB
LG
WR3
DE
DE (Lowry stays?)

CB really needs an upgrade.
