If you look at the numbers on offense after the first 15 plays we're bottom 15 % of the league for the most part. Again I'm not impressed with KOC's ability to adjust on the fly. Love the scripted plays usually! The stats seem to match the eye test from what I can tell. Get a big lead and try to hold on for dear life.

"A lawyer who represents himself has a fool for a client."

i think that this adage describes o'connell's situation as head coach of the vikings...it's about ego...he came from an organization where the head coach was an offensive master and excelled in playcalling, and o'connell wants the same for himself...i wish i was wrong, but i'm far from convinced he can pull it off....

it seems that 'self-scouting' over the bye just didn't take with him...is he capable of an honest diagnosis?...is there anyone on the team strong enough to deliver the news to him....

perhaps owners/gm's should insist that the head coach have a separate job from the play callers...we can't change the play caller without changing the head coach....

A video I was watching said KOC was working on simplifying the offense this week.

I wonder if it's due to plays taking too long to set up, the result of seeing McVay dismantle the Vikings defense with simplicity and raw talent, or something else ?

You can call me petty but there is something so satisfying watching KC's confuse Zimmer's D and throw a wide open TD pass because of busted coverage

Kirkyboy sticks it to Zim in the end. The Cowboys are in trouble. 3-5 and both Dak and Lamb came out of this one hurt.

Jordan Love, the scrub who secured a $220M contract after 15 minutes of fan-boy fame! Love it!

Gotta say it is enjoyable to see the Puke get embarrassed...not that I want to see the Kitty's do well, but fun for now

spent the weekend with some Packer fans and they are convinced Love is the real deal...not convinced

he certainly looks good at times, but it might just be their offense...

and of course now they're driving...

I realize it might have helped the Vikings' chances of winning the division if the Lions lost, but I almost enjoy a Packers loss as much as a Vikings win.

Love is still a decent QB, there were some very nice passes that were dropped, but he did make a very poor decision with the INT that turned into a TD before the half.

While Jacobs is a good RB, I think Aaron Jones is a little bit better.

Darnold throws plenty of really nice throws, but then he throws occasional head scratchers, occasionally misses wide open WRs, sometimes doesn't have the elite QB quickness to make something happen when a play breaks down.

Obtain DT Dexter Lawrence and the Vikings are a Super Bowl contender for the next 5 years.

How about a serviceable center. I'm sick of watching Bradbury fly through the air.

He is serviceable most games....Buckner and Stewart are just really good. Brandel was struggling also and he normally grades out better than Bradbury.

It seems to me a lot of Darnold’s INT’s are the same. On crossers where he thinks he can fit a ball in.

That with missing a wide open Addison several times has me concerned. He’s doing ok but can we win even one playoff game with him?

Gotta keep him healthy and fresh. Manage his time. Give him plenty of snaps off. If Akers continues to play like did last night that’s a great way to do it.

He seemed to lose his focus in the red zone the first time. The 2nd and after 8 games seems he doesn't trust Addison any where as much as JJ.

Then he has to get on it. Addison can make the tough catches and we’re wasting all the attention spent on Jets.

Addison should be lighting it up.

A widespread theory/hope was that Darnold would play better due to the Vikings receivers.

He has played better. Beyond that, he can't be willed to take another leap because at the end of the day he is what he is. He's not even a game manager due to carelessness or whatever that leads to picks.

He is however, a good stopgap QB who has so far outperformed his contract. In short, he is a great cheap rental.

I woke up and tried to recap without the emotions.

1. Reichard's situation is really worrisome. That dude has been lights out. Hoping for the best and if he was hurt, why is he bombing KO's still? Can't Wright do that for now? It's not like we are 'placing' them. Just bombing them out of the EZ.

2. The IOL is still a huge problem even if they don't ALWAYS have bad games. If we make the playoffs they will, most certainly, be a reason we don't advance.

3. The D was outstanding overall but the middle of the field continues to be wide open.

4. Even when they work (which isn't often) the screens are just a train wreck.

5. An occasional gadget play is ok but with JJ, TJ, JA and AJ ect.....we dont need to be running them that often. They mostly get blown up anyway.

Yeap. If any Viking fan would have been told, before the season, that we'd be going in to this week at 6-2 (and 2 very winnable games coming up) with Sam Darnold at QB they would be thrilled. If not, they would be an idiot with over the top expectations.
