Looks like Moss is going through some medical crap right now. Just read an article about him wearing sunglasses on set to hide his eyes and he put out msgs asking for prayers as he deals with something "internal"

Let’s go Packers let’s go!

I dislike the Packers to such an extent I can't cheer for them even when it might benefit the Vikings for them to have success. I hope they tie the Lions in a 0-0 score game. Plus going to NFC West or South leader as the #5 seed isn't as scary as it has been in some years. I'd rather the pack lose out and Lions keep winning if it comes to that.

That's very true Todd but Phil has a point. For us to make hay in playoffs I would say this:

1. The offense can't fall asleep for quarters on end. That falls on KOC, IMO
2. The D has to assert themselves early in the games like they did in the first 5 weeks. I don't know if it's age/injuries/got found out ect. One thing I know is that they aren't getting home like they did early and our backend is not constructed to hold up for 5+ seconds. We need to figure out why our pressure is not getting home.
3. The ST's have been fine. I'd like to see more but they are probably league average-ish. Not a reason we are winning or losing.
4. TO's in the RZ is a staple of the KOC offense. I don't know why but if that's not corrected, we will not win a playoff game. Let alone a couple...

Their running game is predicated on Off Tackle runs with Jones; Oliver was missed yesterday. Hope he gets well soon.

The good thing with the Gillmore injury (if there was one) is that Moreau and Griffin like Man Coverage better which doesn't allow for the quick routes to the TE and WR as much and a better chance to get home and zone blitz schemes.

Gillmore is a zone cover corner according to what I read.

So IOW the rushing game is predicated on the off tackle play, which in turn is predicated on Oliver being on the field?

Stop repeating that as if it's their go-to rushing play from a wide array of great options. At the end of the day it's the only running play worth half a damn so they have to run it. Further, you repeat Oliver is key to that. So essentially, Oliver being out means the entire rushing attack is shut down.

While there is an element of believability, it's a house of cards system whereby some heads in the regime need to roll.

We are tied for 27th in ypc this season which is predicated on shitty playcalling, execution and players.

We are tied for 31st in rushing TDs this season which is predicated on shitty playcalling, execution, and players.

We are 25th in rushing 1st Down percentages which is predicated on.... yeah that.

BTW, our 2024 stats are predicated on copying our 2023 stats.

AND the ypc yesterday was a full half yard better than the season average, which doesn't support some big dropoff due to Oliver being out. If anything, keep Oliver out.

What those season rushing stats above and the following passing stats suggest is Darnold is doing a heck of a job bailing out the offense:
- 4th in ypa
- 4th in QBR
- 3rd in 1st Down %
-Tied for 5th in TDs

Fair enough Phil, I just don't have a lot of faith in Darnold in a playoff run.

I enjoy regular season wins, but I don't marvel at them. I will enjoy ANY playoff wins we get out of Darnold. I will marvel a little bit if he gets the team the Super Bowl, and will REALLY marvel if Sam wins a Super Bowl, that would be marvelous !

As an FYI, Darnold's performance in the postseason, which defaults to USC bowl games, is a mixed bag at best:

https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/sam-darnold-1/gamelog/

A playoff and SB run would be some kind of all-time rags-to-riches story.

Jordan has that. I don't know if Moss has the same condition, especially if it happened relatively suddenly.

You're not alone... me too.

That being said... lions are devastated by injuries... I think the entire starting dline is out.
Could very easy see pack winning.

I would say pitch outs should be taken off the play call sheet. Off tackle seems to give us our best results(and those aren't all that pretty)

The Vikings can clinch a playoff spot this week with a win over the Falcons, a Cardinals loss to the Seahawks, and a Rams loss to the Bills.

Tiny mathematically chance for LA bc they beat us but you can scratch off Arizona if we win.

Doesn’t matter. Detroit is gonna stub their toe.

Or be a Bledsoe and pass 70 times a game.

I told a co-worker that I just can't cheer for the Pack. I enjoy a Packer's loss equally to a Viking's win. I told him I am just going to cheer for a tie.

He told me to just ignore who the Lions are playing, think of the opposition as just some generic football team. And you're just cheering for the Lions to lose.

I feel the only way the Vikings are going to the Super Bowl, is if they get the #1 seed.

So the Vikings need to win, the Lions and Philadelphia, and probably others, all need to lose.

I will always put the love of the team above hate of another.

GB winning gives us a shot at the #1 seed. GB losing gives you a mild sense of satisfaction for a minute.

Blind and selfish.

I didn’t think we needed to worry about Arizona but I guess 3 way tie breakers play into it.

Doesn’t matter. We’re gunning for the #1 seed.

Absolutely.

Detroit has a history of blowing it in the most Detroit of ways.

Five games to go...we need them to lose one before we beat them on the last day of the regular season.

Seen something on Darnold’s numbers against the blitz. They’re really good.

Sam doesn’t get the credit he deserves. I’ve been pretty tough on him.

Limit the mistakes and I’m ready to ride with him.

What we need for a good run though is for Jones to catch fire.

After a strong start, Cousins and the Falcons have lost 3 in a row heading into our game.

Kirk leads the league in INTs (13) and Fumbles (12) and has 0 TDs vs 6 INTs in their 3 game losing streak.

On Tuesday, the team announced that they have designated kicker Will Reichard and long snapper Andrew DePaola to return to practice. Both of them have been on injured reserve for the past four weeks with DePaola dealing with a hand injury and Reichard dealing with a quad issue.

Both players went on injured reserve following the Vikings’ victory over Indianapolis in Week 9. Designating them for return means that the Vikings have opened their 21-day window to be placed on the 53-man roster or go back onto IR, which would end their season.

Too bad we're well past the trade deadline. I bet Romo would've got us a late pick.

Fear not. Lately we have a way of making opposing QBs look good.
