At the end of the day, that was a very winnable game. The defense kept us alive into the second half. ZERO adjustments on offense. It was arrogant of O'Connell. Just thought he could do what he does and succeed.

The offensive line...................oy vey! Help em out a bit Kevin!

You get no arguments from me on that. But then again I'm not crowning him until he starts winning some playoff games. Great regular season. That's about it.

Without getting too deep into analysis, that was a very poor night for one Kevin O'Connell. Perhaps the worst coached football games I've seen for the Vikings since the Les Steckel era. It was one bad decision after another.

Anything to gloss over Darnold duplicating Josh Freeman's efforts to launch footballs into outer space.

Darnold did not play well, but he was not put in a position to succeed. He misfired on some passes in the opening half. The play-calling was brutal. They are sending the house. There is no time to run a 25-to-30-yard pattern.

We got so impatient and kept going away from a running game that was working.

He misfired on some passes...

Sorry, I couldn't retype the sentence you actually wrote.

Missed the pass to Hockenson on third and 18. Threw it over Jefferson's head on fourth down (heavy pressure though). Outside of that he had no chance. They kept bringing the house in the second half and nobody was open. Routes were way too deep down the field.

Thinking you didn't watch the game. Or went to the frig during the dozen or so red zone plays and, ahem, 'passes' into the end zone. More like into the Outer Limits.

Did you not see the pressure? I think you missed to see that part of the game. Guys were covered.

Was Darnold good? No. I already said that. But dismissing the nightmarish performance by the offensive line and the coach is not honest assessment.

The only people standing on the sidelines towards the end of the game were KOC, the linesmen, and JJ McCarthy (on a wrapped leg).

Might wanna sign Romo and give Reichard the rest of the year off. If they actually care.

The offensive line has been a problem all season. It isn't going away. The coach of the year on that staff is Flores. He has kept this team close all season.

They weren't covered in the end zone. You know, big moment plays.

Do not use 'Darnold' and 'good' in the same sentence. Darnold shit the bed. The only reason you bothered to post was to gloss over that.

By the way, I am more convinced than ever that O'Connell has no idea what he is doing in the last 3-4 minutes of halves. You gotta run out that clock and not give Detroit a field goal attempt.

KOC has never cared to adjust to the time the qb is getting in the pocket. No such thing as quick hitters if that's not part of the plan going in. It's frankly annoying as hell.

18/41, 166 yds, 4.0 ypa. 0 TDs.

So much for QB rating, lol.

Most everything was the same as the other games, except one major difference:

Sam Darnold choked one for the ages.

As far as advancing in the playoffs, this was probably the biggest game in decades.

We get eighteen for forty-one.

4 yards per attempt. That's difficult to do.

I see no way they win next week. The defense held on strong for a while tonight. After an offensive performance like that I expect the Rams to end it next week.

Let's see what Sam Freeman does next week. I've thought long and hard about a worse performance. It was on the Freeman level.

We're 89-1 when Blake Cashman plays.

Precisely. You have to make adjustments.

He didn't play well. I don't think anyone would deny that. But the coach has got to recognize the pitfalls during the game and make adjustments. You can't keep running 30-yard routes when your quarterback is getting pressured. It's just stupid.

The good thing is, a win next Monday gives him a second chance to come up with a legitimate game plan the next time they see each other.

Let's see what Sam Freeman does next week. I've thought long and hard about a worse performance. It was on the Freeman level.

Ponder?

Tarvaris Jackson had a couple of bombs.

Maybe. But not definitive. Given the weapons on this team it's embarrassing.

Hard to play quarterback when guys aren't open and you are getting pressured. He's been pretty good up until tonight. It's not time to throw out the baby with the bathwater. I'd rather have that loss tonight than a week from now.

You are literally unable to say he stunk. KOC, the OL, the QB... they all stunk. And Darnold threw several unforced errant passes.

True, but they'd have to be Michael Jordan to catch some of those passes from Freeman. I mean Dar... no Freeman is correct.

He didn't stink. He had no chance to stink.

The coach didn't put him in a position to succeed. He really didn't miss one wide open receiver the entire second half, because there were no wide open receivers.

I'm not sure what game you were watching, but you may want to go back and watch it again. I'm not sure what your expectations are, but he can't throw the pass and catch it all on his own. Guys were covered.

Also, when your offense is gashing them with the run, why do you bail on something that is working? Jones averaged 4.5 YPC. Akers 10.8 YPC. As a coach, you got to be more patient and realize it's a four-quarter game.

Exactly. You can't run 25-yard routes when they are sending six against our horrific line. It's coaching malpractice. You could have the greatest quarterback of all time back there and it wouldn't matter.

How about rolling him out? How about a boot leg? Try something. If you continue to beat your head into a wall, eventually you have to say ouch.

Quite frankly this group reeks of being frontrunners. Sure they can beat the Cardinals and Falcons etc. They got punched in the mouth 3 times this year. They lost them all. Seems like a bunch of weenies that are probably just happy to be in the playoffs at this point.
