ORIGINAL: David Levine We saw the "fatal flaw" in Sam last night. He has the physical tools. Arm strength, athleticism, touch, toughness. But he takes way too long to process what he sees. It shows up in his sack numbers and the amount of hits he takes. And why he so often tries the hard throw because he doesn't see the easier one (like that 3 week stretch where he never looked at Addison). He's very slow through his progressions. Again, KOC did him no favors last night, but Sam was reason #1 we lost. That is nonsense. Your fatal flaw is knowing very little about the game. The guy won 14 games playing the exact same way. If your routes are deep, it takes more time to process. If there is nobody open, it takes even longer. Eventually you get hit. That is a reductive and simplistic opinion. He holds the ball longer because that is what the plays call for. The opposite would be checking down and continuously coming up short of the sticks. We just got rid of a quarterback like that. The best case-scenario would be to run an offense that exploits the defensive scheme, continuously making adjustments as the game progresses.
