Jayden Daniels is unbelievable for a rookie.

Yep. And all the 4th down plays they called throughout the season and yesterday. Those plays alone rachet up the pressure. And they did great at converting.

Improving the OL is not going to matter if KOC doesn't have the QB perfect a good short passing game.

The '98 offense didn't have a great short game, RC was past his time of running the ball, and threw a few desperation deep passes in OT.

The Rams high powered offense didn't win the Super Bowl with long passes, the play of the game for them was an UNDERthrow where the WR came back for the ball.

The Patriots explosive offense with Moss came up short, beat by a Giants team that I believe just completed one long pass early to Burress.

You only need the threat of a long ball, don't be reliant on it. Teams win in the playoffs with mostly a short passing game, a strong run game, and a strong defense.

Again, the options were there. On pretty much every play.

KOC can't force Darnold to throw them.

Hopefully McCarthy is more willing to use the rntire field.

Just going off memory but I think RC's arm wore out in that game. Moss was open deep twice in OT and RC was short or off target.

So KAM and company probably got it wrong again. We were trying to move up to #2 for Maye.

Still early and Maye could be just as good or better but it sure looks like Daniels is best QB in that draft.

Until JJM starts playing

The short options were there, you just need someone who knows when to take them and when to not take them.

It's not just a matter of some options being there, if you're going to beat playoff teams, you need to perfect your short passing game (along with having a good running game, and a QB that can at times run).

Thats like me saying you need jam on your peanut butter sandwhich to work and you saying you also need peanut butter and bread for the sandwhich.

obviously good football requires you be good at it.

I think we just cracked the code.

If I want something I write to be good the wiring is going to have to be good.

We need to pair a young JJM with a young RB.

If Jones wants to retire a Viking he should do it now. Maybe one more year as a cheap rotational guy.

Wow it's amazing what a good OL can do. Get so tired of complaining about it. I'll shut up now!

Will Kevin realize the importance of mastering a good short passing game ?

Like Tom said, the short options were there all game.

But Darnold always goes for the homerun. I lost track of how many times he looked off a wide-open target underneath to either throw an ill advised pass or get sacked over the final 2 games.

Darnold needs to watch some film of how Tom Brady operated. If there giving you the underneath stuff take it and keep the sticks moving. When the safety's move up to shut that down you go over the top of them.

He doesn't see the field that well. It's go deep or bust. And make sure to run Jefferson on only corner routes during the entire game.

Yeah. That's right. No shot at Daniels.

I can still complain about Verse or Jalen Carter instead of Dallas Turner though.

Lamar could have done the Stafford pass to the ground for an incompletion, instead of fumbling it, on the Ravens last possession.

Well said David. The only thing KOC might have to do, is to sometimes give the QB more than one option, but a QB that sees the field, can make up his mind quickly, and makes a quick and accurate throw, should help things against playoff defenses. I think McCarthy is the man to do it, that is the hope.

Just going off memory but I think RC's arm wore out in that game. Moss was open deep twice in OT and RC was short or off target.

This is true, and it's also true RC didn't have a strong enough short passing game to just dink and dunk his way down to a game winning FG in OT. Several times RC could have ran for a 1st down, on 2nd or 3rd down, lots of open field in front of him, but he was past his prime of running.

RC could still run when he was with the Vikings he just chose not to. He ran with long strides, gracefully, and was faster than it appeared, as he would get separation with those long strides, did it on roll outs.

All of our plays had more than 1 option.

Ravens TE Darrin Nelson-ed the 2 point conversion. Josh Oliver would have brought that in and secured it.

Nelson's attempt was much harder. That was a layup.

At the time, I loved the DT move. Thought it was brilliant. Heard of Verse through various draft sites but really didn't know much about him. I assumed, like DT, that he was some 'tweener' that needed time. Damn, that looks like a massive miss.
