Edit: From a Salary Cap perspective, trading Booth, Jr. saves the Vikings $3.3m in cap space (his base salaries for '24 & '25) and we only "eat" $1.6m in dead cap (pro-rated portion of his signing bonus), so the net savings are $1.7m. We'll have to take-on Wright's $1.0m base salary for this season (if he sticks on the 53-man roster, that is) so the total net cap savings of the trade is $0.7m.

Patriots just released Juju Smith-Schuster. Could be the Adam Thielen kind of 3rd WR we were wanting.

He had a really bad year. 11 Games: 29 Rec, 260 Yards, 1 TD. They're basically saving a little money this year and getting out of next year's salary.

He's still just 27 and has been a solid player. If he wants to come here cheap to be the 3rd WR (and Addison insurance), I'm cool with it.

NFL network is reporting that Gilmore will visit on Monday. Vet CB for the room. Its been speculated for a while now so no huge surprise.

Now we're talking. The secondary could use some veteran leadership in addition to Harrison Smith.

Got his first preseason win but I still have question marks with KOC at times. We had 3 TO's with about 50 seconds to go in the first half. WTH isn't he going to a hurry up 2 minute drill with JJM? What a perfect time for the kid to learn.

I agree. O' Connell seems to have some pretty fundamental staples get lost in clock management. We have to remember that coaches must grow just like players. Sometimes I think we take that for granted and as a given that a HC would simply see it in the moment and execute accordingly.

The QB's look pretty decent overall. Hope we sign Gilmore Monday.

Honestly, this scare the crap out of me. It's his 3rd year and this has been a knock on him from day 1. He's a super sharp guy so it's making me think he just doesn't care that much about it (clock management). I find that hard to believe but it just doesn't make sense, in this case, not to practice it. It was the perfect situation to test a young QB.

It was as smart for a young team/guy as it was for Pierce to call 3 straight TO's when Hall could barely complete a screen at the end of the game

We're a really young team. As many jokes as I make about Cousins and how much he drives me crazy, he did bring a lot to the table. It's just that he can only get you so far. This is the roll of the dice we are making to sacrifice a solid double w/ Cousins for a triple/home run or maybe a bust. I highly doubt JJ will be a bust, but it would be nice to watch essentially a rookie-like HC in many ways grow w/ the QBOTF. We didn't see Jefferson, Aaron Jones, or a lot of the starting O-line much. I would like to see McCarthy get the start if he results in a tie w/ Darnold.

I know it's early, but I feel that McCarthy will be the real deal, and Caleb Williams will also be really good.

It's possible that in 2025, 3 of the top 5 QBs in the NFL will be in the NFC North.
