Wow! Literally the worst hitter in baseball just gave us a walk off win.

That will cover up the fact he should never have been batting in the 9th inning of a tie game.

Sure he won the game, but it’s like having 20 in blackjack and taking a hit and getting an ace.

Exactly! Just as I was saying...why doesn't that moron pinch hit for the worst hitter in baseball leading off the bottom of the 9th in a tie game...Vazquez hits it out. Now that his stupid decision worked out, he will continue to do it. Rocco always let's Vazquez hit late in games where we are tied or down, but close.

Look at the league wide numbers. Christian Vazquez is literally the worst hitter in baseball.

Even though he drove in the first two runs....that is digging deep into following your gut.

Rocco pinch hits for Guys who are locked in all the time. Like the other rnight when he took out Miranda who was in the middle of a 12 for 12 streak. Far better hitters. He uses analytics far too much to make his decisions in game. And bad hitters get to hit in the 9th inning? You do get that a hitter batting under .200 is far liklier to make an out than one batting .275 right? Rocco's decisions on pinch hitters makes no logical sense most of the time. Vasquez had what should be called a "blind squirrel finds nut" moment.... Rocco got lucky keeping Vasquez in the game there. It wasn't brilliant strategy by any means and he should be criticized for not pinch hitting for a terrible hitter in the 9th in a tie game. Especially when you need baserunners.

Similar to the Major League movie when Bob Ueker goes thru the strategy and says at the end "I don't know what the hell he is thinking".

We need a 3rd catcher. Gardy had it right.

It's like when Billy Martin started Bob Miller over a rested Jim Kaat in Game 3 of the ALCS vs the Orioles. Except the blind squirrel didn't find the nut that time. The Twins were swept by the Orioles, and Kaat never appeared in the series. There's "genius" Billy Martin for ya.

I hear what everyone is saying but this wasnt a left fielder coming up to bat. And i say that not following what was currently going on with the rotation the last few games or not knowing anything about how big a deal it would of been to just to plug in catcher1 in the 10th. Just saying there has to be some difference ...

Ill sit back now and willingly get hammered

Nonsense.

It would have been one at bat and he'd have a better shot at creating a run than Vasquez did. The idea here is Jeffers gets a hit scores the winning run and doesn't have to put on the pads.

If you leave him out because you're afraid he might have to catch an inning you are playing to lose.

Waste of a roster spot.

Unless the guy can play elsewhere on the field like in the OF, on the corners etc.

We could use a Ryan Doumit.

You don't have to bat Jeffers there either. A Pinch hitter could be anyone off the bench. and Jeffers has been hot lately. and has actual power. The Potential for a bigger hit is higher by a long shot.

You're comparing Jeffers' batting average to Vazquez's OBP.

Jeffers: .238, .326, .481, .807 with 14 hr
Vazquez: .204, .227, .311, .539 with 4 hr

We should trade for Tyler Duffey. He's pitching well for AAA Omaha.

Good deal for Marney! Sorry I missed it.

I did catch her first question to CC, though, still in the booth with "the guys." Im actually searching now for the guys name on the post game - my first of 2024. He gave our bullpen pretty high praise as a unit as I understood it.

Ohtani, Stanton, Guerrero JR., and O'Neil Cruz are the only MLB players to hit multiple balls harder than 116MPH this year. Since Wallner has been called up he's hit two of them. The kid has serious power!!!

So Twins Daily put out an article about the Twins possibly going after Gausman, Kikuchi, or Bassit....no way they spend money on Guasman or Bassit.
