Knock me over with a feather. Twins ownership plan to improve this offseason was addition through payroll subtraction, a procedure that has been always effective. And Twins management recognized all the injuries to rotation and pen and went and got the BEST ARM available at the trade deadline, Richards.

Intersest in the Twins at an all time high

I guess menu items at Target Field and the ambiance of the ballpark experience is not enough to overcomes losing.

See how shrewd they were. They got a guy at the deadline, who was so cheap that even the Pohlad's didn't care when they DFA'd him.

It's a bad team right now.

Julien continues to prove he's the worst defensive 2B I've ever seen in the major leagues. Correa needs to come back to stop the bleeding.

Lee and Buxton both need to come back to put us out of the misery of Austin Martin.

I'd say Jax should have stayed in to at least face Ozuna with the fake runner on 2nd base in the 10th. I was actually shocked he did not return for at least Ozuna. But Rocco sticks to his playbook. Kinda like Gardy. Weirdos.

Kepler shows up his 3rd base coach. Rocco is pissed at Kepler now. I heard it on the postgame radio show.

I was at the game last night. Fun atmosphere, and I guess that's what's most important. I still have 5 more games to attend in the regular season. The playoffs also look like a good possibility, but probably on the road for the 1st "round." As this team is currently structured, we would be one of the worst playoff teams in the history of MLB.

I honestly question your analysis sometimes.

For example. Julien has worked hard on his defense....he's been better this year, snafus recently notwithstanding.

Austin Martin is not a source of misery. He's exactly what he's meant to be. a decent defensive replacement at multiple posistoins, pinch runner and spot starter that's been forced to start too much due to the FREQUENT injuries of stars on this team, including Buxton, Correa, Lewis, Lee, Etc etc etc.

Kepler was right to show up the 3B coach. with a bad knee and Watkins throws up a stop sign then waives him home after...Kepler's knee can't handle stopping and going. and if Rocco has a problem with Kepler being upset, Rocco once again proves that he doesn't have a clue.

Tonkin is soooooooooooo good that we DFA'd him. He's been with three other teams who all DFAd him and now he's back. He's not a good arm. He's an available arm and as dilapidated as our current bullpen is, he looks better. but he's not good.

Our bullpen only has two reliable pitchers and one of them has blown a couple of games this past week.

The Twins are desperate for bullpen help and have nowhere to go to get some.

Bad team? They have overachieved w/o a true 4th or 5th starter that they could have signed for 6-7 million. There was Lorenzen on others we got outbid by KC and lesser payrolls for.

Falvey and Lavine had to spend while they could....Farmer, Margot, Santana, etc were signed before the straps where tightened more.

Once they announced they were cutting payroll last fall I made a decision not to go to game as many others have.....easy to understand attendance wows.
This team has overachieved.

Long list of overachievers to put us at 12 games over .500:
SWR, Lee, Miranda, Santana, etc. saved their bacon.

I would say a team with cheap owners that won't get us any much needed pitching help. I like our offense, especially if our young ones get healthy and develop their games.
We have a lot of young and talented offensive pieces on this team. Injuries have stunted our potential offensive numbers.

Are you sure---I mean the timing is correct (that they were signed later) but to call either a FA signing that cost any $$$....lol I think the Polanco trade freed up money for one of them..... (Jan 29th Polanco trade to free the $4-5 million for the Feb 3rd Santana signing) and Margot we got for free. It was Moneyball by Falvey and Lavine.

Polanco Trade:
The Mariners and Twins have lined up on one of the bigger trades of the offseason. Seattle announced the acquisition of second baseman Jorge Polanco for four players: reliever Justin Topa, starter Anthony DeSclafani and prospects Gabriel Gonzalez and Darren Bowen, as well as cash considerations. The Mariners are reportedly including $8MM to cover two-thirds of DeSclafani’s $12MM salary for the upcoming campaign.

Margot:
Margot has a $10 million salary this season as part of a $19 million, two-year contract he signed with the Rays, a deal that includes a $12 million mutual option for 2025 with a $2 million buyout. If the option is not exercised, the Rays must pay the Dodgers an additional $2 million as part of the Glasnow trade.

The Rays agreed to send the Dodgers an additional $2 million toward Margot’s salary for 2024, and Twins president of baseball operations Derek Falvey said his club will receive that $4 million commitment as well as an unspecified amount on top of that from the Dodgers to cover Margot’s salary. The Twins have pared back their payroll in 2024 in light of a reduction in regional television revenue.

If Rocco wears out the bullpen again tonight, that's all on him. No reason to pull Festa yet. Better keep him out there for the 6th at least.

Lost season%: 0.1% to do with Rocco; 99.9% Pohlads.

If Max Kepler was Joe Schmo prospect for the #MNTwins right now he'd be on the bench or off the roster.

He's played in 63 games since May and owns a .629 OPS.

There is ZERO reason for DaShawn Keisery Jr. not to be using that roster spot.

Though I do put far more blame on the Pohlads, I would say Rocco's dumbshit decisions cost us 10-12 games a year.

Look at his win/loss record as a manager and you'd think he's pretty good. But then consider how much better it would be if only Rocco didn't **** things up so frequently...

And then there's the medical staff on crack.

Injuries to Correa, Buxton, Lewis, Miranda, Lee, Ryan etc etc etc. What's killing us now is some of the team leaders have been out for extended periods.

Depth is an issue. You can't win a pennant race with three rookies in your starting rotation. That's too much to expect of them.
though it will be good experience for them.
