It would at least give the appearance of holding people accountable.

And it would be fun to hear them explain it when they were soo awesome and didn't need major upgrades in the offseason.

8th in NL MVP voting

And Lopez was 7th in Cy Young voting.

Cy Young Award is for one position. MVP is all of them.

Not really. Many feel pitchers should not get MVP award, and vote accordingly.

You get the point.

How is Luis Arreaz doing this year? How is Miami's record and also how far did they advance in the playoffs last year?

Julien/Lee/Lewis is the reason you trade away Arreaz....name a pitcher on staff that is better than Lopez or can replace him.

Pablo Lopez is a career 40-41 with a 3.86 ERA. He's just a guy. He had a couple good outings last season to end a post-season slump by the organization (congrats). Now he's back to 1-2 with a 3.97 ERA. It's who he is.

Arraez is a career .324 hitter.

Rocco is one week away from getting canned.

Why?
So Far:
Santana fail
Margot fail
Paddock as a 4 fail
Varland as a 5 fail
DeSciani trade fail

Those 5 are the GM/FO.

Rocco isn't getting canned. and what you listed Phil, considering the constraints on the budget given to the GM/FO I would say all of it is on ownership and their BULLSHIT excuse to cut payroll.

Without that limitation I doubt Margot, Santana would've been signed and they would have rode into this season with at least Varland in the rotation. Paddack was a virtual lock to enter the rotation either way.

But they made no effort to add starting pitching, because of the budget
They signed aging has beens and traded for a never way because of the budget
They hoped and prayed for injuries to be minimized...and here we are 16 or so games in and half our bullpen, our starting ss, 3B and RF all on the shelf, the LF we were counting on to slug the shit out of it sent down. We are relying on Farmer at SS, Castro at 3B and in the line up nightly.

Most of this was the result of budget.

You could hire Theo Epstein to run this front office and we'd still be here because ownership has once again gone cheap.

Why fire the manager? or the front office? Nothing will change if we do.

There is a reason Varland worked well last year...he was option 7 and Ober was option 6.
Paddock should be 6 and Varland 7 this year.

I really would put Paddock and Varland in the pen for 2-3 weeks and call up SRW and Festa/Raya. At the very least call up SWR and give one of them a reset.

No No No

You got it all wrong

Those 2 will be fine when they don't face good teams like the Dodgers/Orioles

That's what i'm reading

Luis Arraez is back up to .292 and has struck out 8 times this season

Edouard Julien is batting .189 and has struck out 21 times this season.

Pablo Lopez......1-2 with a 4.86

Just sayin!

We're just halfway through April

Stop sayin

Give the guy a break. He couldn't(wouldn't) post after All Star break last year.

You are right, I forgot to post this. Thanks for reminding me.

2023 Final Numbers

Pablo Lopez, 11-8, 3.66 ERA (pedestrian numbers)

Luis Arraez, .354 BA (batting champion), .393 OB%, .993 Fld%, led NL second basemen in double-plays turned (Silver Slugger Award, National League All Star, 8th in NL MVP voting)
Second player in the modern era to win a batting title in both leagues.

Is this past the statute of limitations to qualify as after last year's All Star Game?

Playoffs
Lopez 2-0 0.71 ERA

Arraez 0

Recheck what he did for the Twins last year....not just a guy....Arraez is just a guy this year.

He, Pablo is the guy that shut down Houston and Toronto in the playoffs when pitching matters.

I get the point. But my point, for the thousandth time is, it's okay to not like trading Arraez but still like Lopez. We all know Arraez is a good player. But you don't need to bash Lopez to make that point. I was sad to lose Arraez too. But that's over. Lopez is here and he's a very good pitcher.

Now now Ed. They achieved their goal of cutting payroll. The fact that they are also playing like it is something we just have to deal with.

Don’t worry guys. Sheep like Matt think they will spend 20Mill in season to improve the roster.

5 game L streak ends
Bullpen survives

Matt Bowman gets one of the biggest outs of the game..Austin Martin had better stay with this team.

I couldn't agree more.

He's been one of the few bright spots so far.

If we keep Willie Castro at the expense of Martin, I will be most upset.

Send him down and bring up another guy. Varland needs a reset at least. Or a transition to BP.

He's not a good option for the Major league rotation at this point. Totally predictable he'll give up 4-6 runs. and with this lineup, that's a guaranteed loss.

He is having command issues....that doesn't work well in the bullpen either.

Then a AAA Stint is definately warranted. Either to get his mojo back or transition him to a future bullpen role.

I watched Varland 3 times in ST. The first 2 times he gave up no runs, but a lot of loud outs. His last outing he got torn to shreds. His fastball at 99 - 100 is hard to hit. His fastball at 95 - 96 is hit hard.

Well. Varland and Camargo sent down.

Daniel Duarte moved to 60 day IL to make room for Ronny Henriquezon the 40 man roster, who is called up. And Kepler activated off of IL.

Granted Correa, Lewis, and Kepler injured plus Wallner started off colder than Siberia was the meat of last years lineup.

What I do not understand is 4 million for Margot, 5 million for Santana and JD Martinez was never in play.

SWR better get called up----he looked better than everyone but Lopez and maybe Ryan in his last start---there was zero reason to send him back down.

Some good (but bad) details on Brooks Lee here, whose back injury has proven to be more serious than initially thought. "Lee has been diagnosed with a herniated disc" and "is about three weeks into a two-month rehab plan."

Hope to see you in June or July, kid.
