Gobert is declining his $46.6M player option for 2025-26 and receiving a fresh multiyear extension through 2027-28 – also giving Minnesota significant flexibility next season opting out. Final season has a player option, sources said.

Didn’t see that coming. Signing NAW and Naz back in play.

They seemed a little lifeless last night. I don’t see any reason why they can’t eventually at least duplicate last year’s success. But it’s going to take some time. Any time you change a major core piece, there’s a period of figuring out what it means. This looked like a team that was thinking too much.

Naz has always been in play. Especially since we traded KAT.

Its hard to tell anything the first week pr so.

Last year we lost to Toronto on opening night and had a blowout loss to the Hawks in Game 3.

Anthony Davis was dominant last night. The Lakers played some pretty good defense and were the better team.

I was impressed with Reaves and Hachimura.

Big win last night. Randle and Ant took over.

OKC remains the team that scares me the most.

Our Offense looks more explosive with Donte and Randle for sure.

That 4th quarter escalated to playoff intensity, ending with a deja vu comeback win. NAW was a big reason. Props to Rudy and Ant too.

A note about Edwards. He’s shooting a lot of 3s so far. 13.4 attempts per game, double from last year, and over half of his total attempts.

On one hand you hate to see him settle for them, but here’s the thing, he’s making .433 of them. Seems like he’s made a conscious effort to keep shooting (and making) them until defenses are forced to respect it and open up the middle even more.

Ant worked on his 3 point shooting more than ever he said. I like what I see so far and his ability to be able to drive by just about anyone is apparent as well.
He's playing well, but our off season trade is still debatable. Need more time to see how this team develops.

Nice second half, especially the 4th. Was our defense bad in the first half or was it primarily just Chicago's hot shooting? Anyway, a win we needed.

Team was really working good with Rudy later in the game.

The defense kept doubling the guy driving the lane in the first half. Then it was just kick out for the uncontested three. Very methodical and the Bulls shooters were hot. The Wolves stopped doing that in the se ond half. The threes were contested and the Bulls cooled off.

Ant continues his 3 point binge. 9/15. He’s now leading the league in 3s made per game and shooting them at a .481 clip.

Ant talked in the locker room postgame about what he is seeing from opposing defenses that has caused his increase in 3-point attempts.

quote:

“It’s kind of funny because Mike [Conley] be trying to tell me, get downhill. And I’m like, bro, they going under. You know what mean? I work on my game too much to try to force going downhill. If they can keep going under, I’m gonna shoot that. I really be surprised at this point like I made like two threes in the first quarter today and then in the third they just I came out of made one and they kept going under I’m like alright I’m gonna keep shooting.”

Ant also talked about the improvements he has made to his shot and what went into those improvements this summer during his time with USA Basketball.

quote:

“I was talking to KD after a practice like trying to figure out my footwork for my shot and that’s why my shot was up and down in Olympics. I was trying to figure out like how I’m gonna learn how to catch a shoot at a higher clip and I was trying to figure out type of ways. I watched Dame, I watched Steph, and I watched Klay, and I watched KD, and I tried KD way it didn’t work. I tried Steph way it didn’t work, and then I watched Dame, and then I started doing Dame’s shot and it’s been working for me.”

It’s going to take time whenever major pieces change. I never judge before December.

Nope. Long season. Many teams go through this. The rotations and chemistry could be very different by end of year.

There’s a saying I just made up. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

Randle gets his first signature moment as a Timberwolf with a game winner at the buzzer. Replay showed how close it was. Looked like .1 second when it left his hand. I love how Booker was whining for a call because Randle pushed a defender out of the way to get the shot. When Booker had done the same thing seconds earlier driving for a shot.

Mind you I don’t fault Booker’s play. That’s a veteran knowing the situation and knowing the refs aren’t going to whistle down that play unless he outright punches someone. But then Randle in turn showed his smarts too by recognizing “okay they didn’t call Booker, they sure as heck won’t have the guts to call me seconds later on my home court. So he did what he had to do.
