Cousins made sure of that. How do you miss a guy that open on Murphy's INT?

I don't anyone who has picked off more passes by virtue of being out of position than Murphy.

A combination of feeling pressure, and what I always thought of Kirk, at crunch time his brain doesn't process things quickly enough to make a great throw, or he gets hit as throws, or he fumbles, unless if everything works according to the script. The script breaks down, and Kirk is in trouble.

Yeah. He's been a little better the 2nd half of year but he has been known to get torched quite often.

To his credit. He catches the ball. Very good hands.

This game gave me the same feeling as the Buffalo game where we had Diggs against JJ.

The question was, is JJ a good replacement for Diggs ? Diggs made some great catches, and that seemed to motivate JJ to outdo him.

The question this season, was is Darnold a good replacement for Kirk ? Kirk made some great throws earlier in the game, and that seemed to motivate Sam to outdo him.

Second half Darnold smoked Cousins.

So is Sam playing well enough now you aren’t mentioning JJ? .4 from a perfect rating today.

Yes, I feel as though Sam brought it up a level this week. When he can stop making really bad throws for picks, to making the throws within the system for TDs, to making off script plays for TDs, Sam is taking it to another level.

December and into the playoffs are where players really show their stuff.

I think it's now going to be a very difficult decision with Sam. He keeps playing like this, I would be tempted to franchise him for one more season. McCarthy is very young, it might not be the worst idea to have him sit 2 seasons.

It’s not just this week. Sam hasn’t thrown a pick in the last 4 games.

Yes, but it's not just not throwing a pick.

Sam was successfully performing off schedule throws today, getting TDs off of them, he played on another level.

Darnold from 6 or 7 games ago was showing some regression to Jets/bad teams Darnold.

The previous four games were a level up from that. Today's game is an even higher level than those games, adding in some great decision making, and off schedule throws.

The next level would be doing that on the road, against a good defense. The next higher level would be doing that in the playoffs.

The ultimate, is a MVP Super Bowl performance.

He just broke the Vikings single season record with his 11th over 100 qb rating game with 4 left. Your expectations maybe a little high for JJ. Darnold is in the MVP talk now. Not sure we can franchise him. Apparently we can at 42 million

My expectations are likely a little high with JJ, but I still feel good about him.

I like JJ's winning background, I like what we heard about his being a team player, and let's not forget he seemed to be a quick learner, and was starting to push Sam for the starting job for the season opener.

OTOH, we are now hearing some good things from Sam's teammates, about his leadership, his confidence, and his play. We didn't hear much of that from the other teams Sam had played on.
