ORIGINAL: Tom Sykes Well ... at this point ... the back-up QB position is screaming for a resolution. It has to be something that is not available yet. Sitting and waiting for prices to come down is not their MO in free agency for an important position. No matter how much they believe in JJM. It's not Kirk ... regardless of the 10M bonus, even if he does get released ... he's not looking for a 'pure' backup position ... nor is he going to pass up the best contract he can get, regardless of the guaranteed riches he's gouging ATL for. [to be fair – their stupidity / their fault] That's not Kirko's MO. Its not Rogers, a complete non-collaborator who will retire before signing as a back-up. We had and still have money for any number of the QBs already signed. So we're waiting patiently, biding our time like a spider. Has to be a trade of some kind or someone not yet released that we are convinced will be released. I suppose we could be waiting for a vet like Wilson to exhaust all starting opportunities before buckling under to a one year deal ... but not sure that would create the right mindset for your QB room. Something unforeseen is going on. We're just too deliberate to put off this kind of thing indefinitely. Just read an article on Titan's QB Will Levis. Sounds like he will be available for trade. Advantage would be he's still on his rookie contract for 2 years at about 2 million+ a year. A huge savings over other better than average backup QB contracts. Sounds like he could be had for a six round pick, so if he did develop well under the QB whisperer he could be worth something in the future. Unlike Darnold we'd have him for at least 2 years on his rookie contract and could cash in on him if he started to look good. Seems like the perfect backup... for the Titans. I wonder which is more appealing to Kwesi, a player who sat out 2024 because he was ‘too selective,’ or a player who sat out 2024 because his legs got twisted around like an animal balloon. Probably the latter. Which is why we’re waiting … Tannehill is too freakin’ untarnished. A conundrum.
