How did tanking work for Miami? A big lawsuit and more mediocrity.

Our biggest problem was KAM. The drafting was easily the worst in the franchise history.

Not only that but it led to overpaying for Hargrove, Allen, Jones, Kelly, TJ, Rodgers, and Fries to cover up the draft miscues.......

Kwesi was one of the worst GM's in NFL history.

A lot of folks here, and elsewhere, myself included did not like the hire.

He should have been fired for his first trade in his first draft and pretty much encapsulates his tenure here. good riddance!!

Time to get a real football GM and talent evaluator. No more triangle of collaborative mediocrity.

The whole "KAM experience" was such a weird thing overall. My thoughts in real time were:

1. Hired - hmmmm, never heard of the guy but it's a different approach from RS
2. Pretty interesting since we've never had an analytical guy before
3. Passes on Hamilton "is that wise?"
4. Trades with Det "is he an idiot?"
5. Extends KC's "oh shit, he is an idiot"
6. Given an extension "oh wow, am I wrong about this guy?"
7. Has, what I thought, a great FA class "I was totally wrong!"
8. That class flames our horribly "we are both idiots"

At least it was a relative flash in the pan and we can move on.

We have no leverage. And any buyer is facing giving up something for a player who wasn't all that in 2025 plu.s increasing his salary by who knows how much or be left with a one-year rental.

If he wants more $, the regime won't give him more, and we want to stockpile picks - basically where the two sides are at an impasse and next year he will finish his contract and walk for nothing in return - then we should just shop him for the highest bid

He's certainly not worth a first, even if it's a year away. Let the market decide. Be happy if we get a third either this year or next.

Has anyone seen Eric Gentry play in USC's defense? He looks like he would fit well in whatever defensive scheme Flores would cook up, and he would be available in the lower lower rounds of the of draft.

According to Ohio State nose tackle Kayden McDonald the Vikings sought him out for a pre-draft chat. If he's available to us in the first round it looks like we could pull the trigger on a nose tackle. Here's some online hype about McDonald. I think he'd look good in purple.

Interesting. You can talk about all the complexities and nuances of pro football but I agree, imo each draft should have one ‘wild hair’ pick in the late rounds.

Someone different and against your normal scouting channels … because that system isn’t very effective anyway.

I remember when Bowfinger was picked, not espn but (I think) cbs had both the player and Spielman on before and after the pick … everybody and their mother knew it was going to happen.

Obviously didnt work out but brought a lot more fan investment to a random late pick. Bernard would be cool.

Some DL prospects via ESPN:

42. Peter Woods, DT, Clemson
Height: 6-3 | Weight: 298 | Grade: 83
Comp: Devonte Wyatt

Woods is a 3-technique defensive tackle with the quickness to be an immediate pocket disruptor in the NFL. He gets double-teamed a lot because offensive linemen struggle to match his first step in one-on-one situations. Woods has the strength to counter that, accumulating five career sacks and 42 hurries despite the extra attention. Though his lack of sack production could limit his upside for some teams, Woods' position-specific traits are good enough to make him a top-50 pick.

43. Kayden McDonald, DT, Ohio State
Height: 6-2 | Weight: 326 | Grade: 83
Comp: Travis Jones

I rarely put nose tackle prospects in Round 1 consideration, but I'm making an exception for McDonald. He is impactful against the run with his anchor strength, but he also has the necessary quickness and leverage to be a pocket-collapsing menace. McDonald had three sacks and nine pressures on 223 pass-rush snaps while posting 67 tackles and 17 run stops. He can fit in a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme.

47. Lee Hunter, DT, Texas Tech
Height: 6-4 | Weight: 318 | Grade: 82
Comp: DJ Reader

A plug in the middle of the defense, Hunter is a scheme-wrecking nose tackle with the tools to be a two-gapping run-stuffer with alignment versatility. Hunter jumped off the tape last season with productive edge rushers flanking him, showing the length and leverage to dominate with a bull-rush move or to lock-out advancing blockers in the run game. Hunter might never be a high-end pass-rushing tackle, but he's a premier anchor for 3-4 defenses.

48. Caleb Banks, DT, Florida
Height: 6-6 | Weight: 327 | Grade: 82
Comp: Javon Kinlaw

Banks didn't make the initial top 50 after playing in only three games last season because of a foot injury. A fantastic Senior Bowl week started his rise onto the list before he aced the combine with a 5.04 40 time at 327 pounds. Banks' movement and power are elite for his size, making him the ideal nose tackle prospect, but he also has enough up-field push to be a factor against the pass.
