You don't see a team out shoot their opponent 47-18 lose very often. WOW. Hughes with an assist. It seems he gets a point or more every single game.

Weird that we keep going into 3-3 overtimes with Chicago, but a big "whew" that we came out on top. We needed that two points, especially on a day when both Dallas and Colorado lost.

Bobbly, Fabri, and Ek now injured......maybe we didn't have enough depth.

Couple of notes.....Hartman always plays well in Chicago and Gus Bus is sure sick a lot.....

Update
Weird....it was an equipment issue for Gus.

The chatter i've heard on JEE is that they are sitting him to get him 100% for the playoffs. He could go if he had to, but they are pretty much locked in #3 so it's not worth the risk.

If it was an equipment issue for Gus there is a procedure for that. Officials grant a time-out to get that taken care of. His just up and leaving was weird.

Funny side story. When Nick Foligno was still in Chicago and we'd be playing them with a Foligno on both sides, I referred to Nick (mostly jokingly) in our own household as "Bad Foligno." There was Marcus Foligno and Bad Foligno. Feels funny now to recognize he actually has his own first name.

The NHL owes us an apology for televising on ESPN+ only.......
I had it for a while a year ago and they had terrible announcers and an even worse stream. It sucks missing games for that.

Sad news Jessi Pierce who does podcasts for Skor North and NHL plus her own podcast died in a house fire with her three kids last night in White Bear Lake.

From Russo:

College free agent pursuits
It’s college free agent season, and it’ll be interesting to see if the Wild land some free agents to supplement some of the picks and prospects they’ve traded away over the past couple of years.

One free agent we hear they have interest in is University of St. Thomas freshman Nathan Pilling, 21, a 6-4 center who had 29 points in 38 games. Another player we can see them pursuing is Owen Michaels, 23, who has 25 points in 37 games as the captain of Western Michigan.
St. Thomas’ season is done. Not defending NCAA champion Western Michigan, however. This creates a small complication, too, because both players are advised by the same agent, and agents would likely not want to play players of the same position on the same team.
So, stay tuned.

I'm more interested in what they do when Stramel signs. It isn't clear whether he will stick with the Wild right away or finish the year in Iowa.

Finally, a win in regulation but a bit of a weird game. Couldn't get out of our zone in the first 10 minutes and pretty much dominated the rest of the night. I was just saying to myself "of course it's going to OT" before JEE crashed the net.

It was nice to see the win in regulation for a change that's for sure. Listened to Russo this morning and he thinks last night's lineup could be how we look to start the playoffs. That kind of shocked me since Yurov was a scratch last night. Have to admit the bottom six looked pretty good last night and a 4th line of the Foligo's with Trenin. They are going to beat the heck out of anybody they play against. Third line of McCarron with JoJo and Brink doesn't look good on paper but they sure played well together and putting Tarasenko with Ek and Boldy I can live with as long as Tarasenko keeps sniping like he has been. Now we need the real KK to wake up and play like he can and we are in business. And we have guys like Yurov and Sturm as back ups when needed.

I suspect Stramel signs and goes right down I-35 to start his career in Iowa since we are already sitting 2 centers.

This team is in a serious rut at the worst possible time. They've now lost 6 of 9. The goaltending has gotten very inconsistent. Oh, and Charlie Stramel broke his ankle in the NCAA playoffs last night.

Yup, they have 8 games to right the ship and get things going again. It's time for Hynes to quit messing with the lines so the guys can settle in and play their game. And these bad starts need to stop now!

It's really too bad Charlie's season ended on bad note after having a very good season. Hoping he gets after it in rehab and starts his NHL career looking like the 1st round pick he is.

Horrible because even if he wasn’t good enough to help it would have been good to have him practice with the rest.

I also don't like the decision to sit Yurov out. His speed and skill would add a dimension to the new bottom 6. Frankly, Nick Foligno is done.

I'd like to see Yurov with KK and Zuc and push Hartman down to 3rd or 4th line center or wing where he belongs.

Hartman is such an enigma to me. He does some really good things, at times, and then goes full "Hartman" about 2 or 3 times a game that makes me want to rip my tv off the wall.

I don't know if he tightened down the loose nut enough or what but I was about at 99% sure they were going to get rid of him at the trade deadline.

I was done with Hartman last year. Smashing the opposing center's face on the ice during a face off was the last straw. Hartman is Matt Cooke light.

Kirill and Boldy hitting the 40 goal mark last night making for a Wild milestone and clinching their playoff spot was just what we needed. Now we need them both to play up to that level in the playoffs. Team looked pretty good last night and played a much better game than we have seen in a while. Time to ramp up for Dallas and make a run.
