7 min left, down by 10

and MN has outscored them in the paint. Just getting blistered from the field.  The Gophs can't buy buckets from the outside.

Purdue smart to let Nolen shoot 3s. Hoffarber hasn't looked comfy in the parts of the game I've seen. not getting feet set.

They've taken Hoffarber out of the game. They just stick one guy on him, don't ever rotate away from him and force someone else to hit a shot.

Unfortunately, we just don't have any scorers. Hoffarber is a shooter, but is negatable. Westbrook is good every 4th game and Williams is the only guy with a chance to grow into being a scorer.

3 points on 5 shots/Hoffarber. Not going to get it done for MN. Purdue plays stud man-man.

MN has to be able to do more with opps they get. Can't have Bostick go 2-7

And Nolen 1-10. Wow. tough night for Al. Was hoping that outside shot was better.

Not enough from Westbrook either.

have to bounce back. Not enough time to feel sorry for themselves.

The Gophers use a lot of movement, but I don't see and picks or screens to give players like Hoffarber clean shots

Purdue had 44 FT to 25 for the Gophers. The officiating was terrible last night. Gophers get called for touch fouls while Purdue give body shots and not called. The last call on Westbrook should have been a jump ball. I could name a few other incidents, but that won't change toe outcome. The Gophers need that same type home field advantage when Purdue comes here

I hate blaming officiating, but it was ridiculous last night. Any contact under the basket was always a charge on us on offense or a blocking foul on us on defense. And Purdue plays just a swarming, mugging, physical defense that ends with a surprising lack of fouls.

But we need to stop having 6 and 7 minute stretches with no FGs.

Then there were 2 baskets taken away on bad calls. First Westbrook did not palm the ball and I didn't see a traveling on Nolan in the lane

Last night the Gophers held there own on the road against a good team. But I did witness some calls that just weren't right. Westbrook called for a charge when the defender was still moving. The other was a intentional foul on the Gophers Cobb. He made a swip at the ball while the player was going to the hoop. I thought I was watching a womans game for a minute

Big Ten officiating is a joke.

We really need to either find a guy who can create his own scoring opportunities, or just work non-stop on plays that free up Hoffarber for open 3s.

Because we have no half court offense at all. None.

Westbrook can create a bit and hit an open 3.  But, in general DL, I agree.  Been screaming about that for 2 years and I'm the least knowledgeable BB guy on this site.

The problem with Westbrook is he can only do it once every three or four games.

One of the reasons I have had a real hard time getting interested in basketball is because of what was described above. The penalties all seem so arbitrary to me. It's like saying you can touch a guy with your left pinky, but not your right pinky, and then the ref makes the call in real time and makes the judgment about which pinky you used. And about 50% of the time he's wrong.

In most sports, the penalties and infractions are much more clear cut. That's not to say there aren't mistakes or close calls - but the calls in basketball are entirely too wishy washy and arbitrary for me to really enjoy the sport. I've been tuning in to the Gophers recently because I am excited about Tubby bringing a championship back to Williams Arena ... but it's frustrating as hell to watch.

The lack of consistent calls for road teams is a huge problem from watching B 10 games.

Yep. This is where they really miss Mbakwe and White. Now they are saying that potentially two players will be declared academically ineligible this week.

Royce WHite practices:

Royce White, last season’s Mr. Basketball in Minnesota and freshman forward for the Gophers men’s basketball team, practiced with the team for the first time in months Wednesday, according to multiple sources close to the program.

White, who transferred to Hopkins for his senior year after being asked to leave De La Salle, was suspended from the Gophers indefinitely after police questioned him following an on-campus burglary in mid-November.

The 6-8, 250-pound forward hasn’t played in any exhibitions or games for Minnesota this season.
White pled guilty to shoplifting and disorderly conduct after a Mall of America incident in October.

White’s grandfather, Frank, said White’s attorney, F. Clayton Tyler, told him last week that he expected his grandson’s legal situation from the on-campus burglary investigation to be resolved this week.

Al Nolan is academically ineligible. Possibly for the entire 2nd semester. Looks like Joseph and Cobbs will get some extended run.

What a load of crap! If this had been some nobody the whole thing would have been dropped a long time ago. These charges say "we have no evidence, so we are going to scrape up something to save some measure of face".

Just read the story on the charges. Pretty worthless case after all that time spent.

He's a kid who was walking around with his buds. Probably not a great idea, but IF he didn't take the laptop,

how can you charge a kid who is going around dorm rooms, and checking out the scenery, like other kids?

Like I said. The only reason he got charged with anything at all is because it was in the news. They had to charge with something after dragging their feet for so long.
