As long as Gruden doesn't go Jerry Glanville on us and relate everything to his time in Tampa and/or Oakland he should be fine.

Damn, everytime something happened when JG was in the booth you would hear (in that stupid high pitched country hick voice)...."back when i was in Atlanta....."

Glanville was (and still is) a kook.  He left tickets for a dead guy for crying out loud.

I don't have the specifics but JG did have 1 great moment.  He was doing the Vikes game against Atlanta years ago when Reeves was still there.  He had a great story about how Reeves was a big drinker.  It got totally quiet and you could tell the whole crew was uncomfortable about the whole thing.  It had to do with whiskey.

Maybe what they ought to do for the third person is bring in a local sportscaster for each game.  Give some variety, local color, and they might be able to provide information from a fan's perspective. When someone in the booth has asked the former player for explanations of routes, play subtleties, etc., I have really appreciated it.

If they're looking for a POA in the booth put Jessica Simpson.  At least we could laugh at all the stupid shit she would say.

I agree!  Kornheiser is all right on the radio, but he doesn't belong on MNF.

Kornheiser is worthless in every single outlet.  There are few posters on this board who don't know more about football than him.

Very few

He is another example of the loudmouth, know-nothing school of journalism that has infected this country - Rush for the NFL.

I think the hope was that Kornheiser would be Howard Cosell II. Clearly a failed experiment IMO.

    NFL's Injury Study Flawed
    Sun May 31, 2009

The Boston Globe reports the NFL presented a study to owners, using injury reports and information from team trainers (between 2003-2007) to form a line graph showing whether more players missed games as the season wore on. The graph indicated that the high point of players missing games with injuries was in Week 10. At that time, a little more than three players per team were out with injuries. The low point came in the final week of the regular season, when an average of just more than one player per team missed action. But the study is flawed in multiple areas. First, the usage of injury reports to measure risk is laughable. Injury reports are often doctored by coaches, and they are far from a truthful measure of a team's health (see: "QB Tom Brady, shoulder, probable"). Second, all the report truly shows is that players play with injuries when the games are most important. As part of an expanded season, owners are considering increasing roster size from 53 (a safe estimate would be 54-55 players) and altering the injured reserve rules (it's possible that 1-2 players could go on a list that sidelines them for six games).

Look at what great photos of mom they'll be able to show off to their kids when they're older. His friends already have her pictures pasted all over their bedrooms.

So sweet.

Want to know why the Patriots are playing hardball with the Vince Wilforks of the world? Because soon they're going to have to pay very big for Tom Brady. Brady's due $14.5 million, total, over the next two years. Peyton Manning's due $29.8 million over the next two. Now McNabb's in line to make exactly $10 million more than Brady in 2009 and '10 combined. You tell me how laughable that is. Brady's not saying a word. His agent, Don Yee, is not saying a word. But they're taking notes about a system that's paying Matt Cassel the same money to play 2009 as Brady will make in the next two years combined.

Vince Young considered quitting football for the rest of the 2008 season, but he did not contemplate suicide, he told ESPN's E:60.

Young

Police were told to look for the Tennessee Titans quarterback last Sept. 8 after he did not show up to undergo an MRI on his knee and did not tell anybody where he was going. After Young was found, a police report surfaced which said that Titans coach Jeff Fisher and the quarterback's therapist told police that Young had mentioned suicide before leaving his home with a gun. The coach later said the situation was overblown.

"I didn't want to kill myself. That's absurd," Young told Michael Smith on E:60, which will air the interview in its entirety July 28 (ESPN, 7 p.m. ET). "Because I love my life, like I said. I love everything going on in my life. I love my family. I love everything that's going to happen to me in the future."

The former NFL Rookie of the Year injured his knee in the first game of last season, and Kerry Collins became the starter. With the Titans experiencing success, Young did not regain his starting job despite getting healthy.

Young had heard some boos in his second season as the Titans limped to a 9-7 record and the QB threw 17 interceptions with only nine touchdowns.
Fisher has said that Young must beat out Collins in camp this year to start again. Collins guided the Titans to a 13-3 record and a playoff berth last season, but he is 36 years old, compared to Young's 25. Young has recently said that if the Titans don't want him, he would move on, but he has since backed off those comments.
But in September 2008, he was ready to walk away from the game, at least for the year.

"I was that hurt from the boos. All the different things that were going on, man, it was so much for me I didn't want to play no more," he told E:60.

Carson Palmer’s Wife Says No to Ochocinco
    Fri Jun 19, 2009

The Dayton Daily News reports the wife of Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson Palmer will not allow WR Chad Ochocinco to stay with them in their Southern California home while the two work out together in July. Shaelyn Palmer gave birth to twins — a boy and a girl — on Jan. 20. “As soon as I walked in the door from work the other day, she just gave me that look,” Palmer said. “I'm like, 'Whoa, calm down. It's media stuff. It's Chad being Chad.' I told her, 'Don't worry. I haven't made any commitments to having to clear out the boxes in the (spare) room to make a bed for him. Don't worry about that. It's not going to happen.'” Undeterred, Ochocinco keeps insisting he's staying with the Palmers. “No,” Carson said. “I just told him that unless he's picking up my mortgage for the month of July and August, he can't stay. He's not living for free. I don't need another kid around the house.”

Carson Palmer is EASILY the most overrated QB of this decade.

Most people had him just one notch below Brady-Manning and above McNabb-Brees.

No way

2 good years and a lot of dreck
