You know, every year I pick Pittsburgh to do well in this stupid tournament, and every year they find a new and creative way to kick me in the face for it.

Nothing like seeing half of your national title game go into the crapper before the first weekend is over.

He's small, but Isaiah Thomas can be PG on my team, anytime.

That was the best game of the tourney by far to me. Love watching both of those teams, much as I hate Carolina.

If Michigan could rebound, they'd be winning.

Ya, but Duke was supposed to kill them on the boards.

If they weren't making 3's like crazy and Duke could make free throws, it would be a blowout.

Whew. Michigan played about as well as they possibly could. But it wasn't quite enough. Happy to survive.

Hats off to them for a great season. They're going to be even better next year.

No one's mentioned it yet, so I guess I will as the Duke homer;

Coach K with 900 wins now! And he's probably got 10 years left in him. Would be another 300 wins or so at this pace. Going to be awfully touch to catch.

He can pass Knight this year by making it to the finals.

I think Duke dodged a bullet with Texas losing.

I knew Texas wasn't one of the top teams at this point of the season, but what a tough loss. was there a foul????

me too. but i'm a bit worried about the crowd, and sean miller is a way better coach than barnes for my money. i've never thought barnes was particularly good.

Great finish to that game. Not sure how you let Williams get unimpeded to the rim, however.

Very good day of ball overall so far. And I'm sure a couple of the next finishes will be great too.

They looked dominant when I was watching that game, just shredding Purdue.

If VCU wins, which seems likely, it'll be the biggest upset of the tourney.

I know some people may think that Pitt losing to Butler was a bigger upset, but Nate Silver had them as 79% to win. He had Purdue at 84% over VCU. Okay, so you don't believe Silver's system: Pitt barely lost but Purdue is getting crushed. Biggest upset.

Michigan beating Duke would have been bigger.

IMO, the difference between 3s and 4s (seeds) and 11s and 12s .... is minute.
Even games for the most part.
Cannot believe more major-college teams don't go away from the same old has-been recycled coaches, and give a young, aggressive, hard-working ladder-climber their jobs.
Certainly looks like the way to go, in the big scheme of CBB

Couldn't agree more.

And yes, VCU very impressive. Smart's going to have his pick of jobs this offseason if he wants.

I may be totally wrong, but I think the Notre Dame bubble bursts tonight.
No way thats a  true #2 seed imo (and some claimed #1)
Just don't see it. Willing to be proven wrong, tho ...

Agreed. Tough matchup too with FSU's athleticism (and Singleton). I think JT said it before, but I can't see a BigEast team winning it. I thought Pitt had a chance; guess not.

Minute? From a 7 to a 11 seed, yes. From 5 to 12 is only slightly wider. But the difference between 1 seed and 4 seed is about the same as a 4 and 13. And the drop from 13 to 16 is comparable.

Nate's chart is here, along with a good analysis on how 7 & 8 seeds get hosed by the current system.

Hmmm.

So one question here.. with all of activity and interest on this thread, why are there only four entries in the bracket challenge?

I agree that 8 seeds get screwed.

That's easy: no pool.

I thought the Big East was supposed to be the best conference, top to bottom, but I believe that Connecticut is the only survivor. The Big Ten didn't do much better, though. If I'm not mistaken, there is only Ohio State and Wisconsin left. Which conference has the bragging rights with the most teams in the Sweet 16? The ACC?
