Butler does it AGAIN! This team accomplishes more with less than any team in college. Unbelievable. Just a great tournament team.

Now Kansas goes down in one of the biggest upsets imaginable. My bracket has nobody left.
This has been one heck of a tournament.

Somehow I don't think you're alone.

Sweet, sweet, sweet VCU win.
Minute differences between teams this season.
Loved how they handled it when the lead got cut to nothing in the second half... did not stop playing, did not stop attacking, they just answered every challenge Kansas thru at them.
A couple real studs on that VCU team. Can kill you from every spot on the floor.
Wish Butler and VCU weren't matched up in the semis.

and my wife locks down the office bracket. she has uconn in the finals. even though i dismissed her chances early when her champion was...........notre dame. she also had unc in the final 4....initially thought she needed a unc win today. but it turns out she didn't. we have a winner!!!!!!!! (p.s. i think i finished in last place in the office....approximately 20 brackets submitted).

Q. What does it say about the college game in the bigger picture that VCU and Butler can get to the national semifinals?
COACH SELF: Well, I think we've said all along this year that there appear to be more parity than maybe what there has been in years past. And I think that's true. But VCU and Butler have good players. You can usually tell who can really recruit, what programs do the best jobs recruiting because they're playing with the guys that you look at them when they're juniors and seniors and think how in the world did they get them? And so VCU's program has done that, Butler's program has done that. There's others out there.
I think what it does as much as anything it just puts a spin on the NCAA tournament. It's wild. It's wild and a lot of people have said that we caught breaks. I don't know if we caught any breaks or not, I didn't feel like we caught any breaks. Because seeds are so overrated, it's about match-ups. And their players could play for us any day. If we played shirts and skins today you wouldn't have much of a difference on players or how they look. They've got some good looking kids. They got what they deserved today. They certainly outplayed us.

Amen.

Maybe it's about time that the pundits stop propping up the big program coaches.  Kansas, Duke, UNC, Syracuse, Ohio State, Kentucky......these coaches get the cream of the crop year after year.  This year again we are seeing that some relatively young coaches are beating the big boys despite having less talent.  At some point coaching comes into play.

I guess it's easier for Bill Self to admit that Smart is a good recruiter, than to admit that he may be a better coach.

VCU seemed like an after thought to the NCAA since they were one of the 8 teams that had to play the play in game. Now look at them.

It also says that the BCS is an even bigger piece of crap than we thought.
BCS would have put Ohio State and Kansas in the Final and none of these other games would have ever happened.
