What was Vandy doing?

kid inside passes inside?

You need a 3!!

don't get it. they just weren't good late in games this year. richmond is very good, but...

look at vandy's schedule this year. all the games they lost but 1-2 were extremely close losses. they need a finisher. have 2 good guards coming in next year which should help. taylor is very frustrating; should be one of the very best players in the country, but doesn't always show up.

What a day. My bracket is taking a beating, though at least I've only lost one S16 team so far (Louisville).

Only shocker to me today so far has been the Louisville game. I really thought they'd wear Morehead State down in the 2nd half with their defense.

7-4 5 minutes in. Pretty high scoring for a Wisconsin game.

Yep. Tough to win when Wisconsin is knocking down 3's like that.

What a comeback by Michigan State. Down by 23 with 8 minutes to go. Now down 3 with 40 seconds left.

Crazy. Wish they had finished the job. I picked them (because I think the Pac10 sucks too), but MSU should not have been in the tourney this year IMO. Just a very unimpressive year.

Love me some Zags, Butler, and BYU.
Awesome day. Maybe the best in sports. All the CBB, the NHL getting tight, the WCHA Final Five.
A guy like me could OD on a day like today, but I'd go out with a smile anyway ...

Yep. Best day of the year for my money. Tomorrow too. Especially with Irving back.

Kansas State and Utah St. are both good, but if they play 10 times, I'm not sure Kansas State wins more than 3 of them. Strange game.

Gonzaga and BYU get to start basketball's new great rivalry in the WCC a year early.

Yeah.. great games, but my bracket is dead in the water.. I pretty much need everything else to shake out as picked to have any shot at winning.. or even competiting past the weekend.

I lost two Elite 8 teams, one Final Four team and one of the National Championship Game participants. And thats before mentioning that I lost every single 2nd nighttime game.

Thats what I get for not doing my homework and just picking for fun and on hunches.

EDIT: Make that three Elite 8 teams and TWO Final Four teams. Damn.

Eh. I don't think it says much. I watch a ton of college ball. And I had a really rough night too, though didn't lose any teams that I have going deep yet. In the tourney anything can happen. Which is why you see a lot of pools won by women picking teams by team colors and stuff. Don't be so hard on yourself Ian.

Ditto. But I bet that's a case for a lot of people. At least the 1st rd.

So if they played nine more times, Utah State would win seven of them?
You base that on what?  Break it down for me.

5 seed vs. 12, and the wise guys had the 5 seed as a favorite, yet you think they were lucky to win?  They would lose a super special 10 game series?  KState played rather poorly, and still won.

I don't think they were "lucky". I thought Utah State played rather poorly, and Wesley got a couple of very ticky tack fouls in the 1st half that changed the game. With him all game I think they win.

Kansas State is a much better team with Pullen at full strength, but he's clearly not right now, despite a gutsy effort tonight.

I really don't care much either way in this game. Both are good teams. Also, seeds don't mean a lot to me. If you put Vandy and Richmond against each other, I bet either team wins 5 out of 10 times or something too.

But if they played ten times..........

Do you apply that to all teams?  You don't care for the one loss and you're gone format?  You would prefer a quadruple elimination tournament?

The NCAA tournament is as pure as sports can be.  You don't get ten chances to beat a team.  You show up right and good things can happen.  Some people call it parity.  I call it competition.  Here's what, the teams that won today, were the better teams today.  Simple and pure concept.

Absolutely. And I'm totally fine with that. Kansas State was a better team than Utah State today. I don't dispute that at all. And I love the format.

It's my favorite sporting event, other than maybe the Olympics, and I wouldn't change a damn thing about it.

I'm trying to understand your position.  You think Utah St. would win 7 out of 10 vs. KState, but you think KState would be even better if their stud PG was healthy, yet somehow they still won the one that mattered?  Color me confused.

7 out of 10 as currently constructed; that may be off, possibly more like 6 out of 10. If Pullen was fully healthy, I'd think KState would win more like 7 out of 10. They're both good teams. Just an opinion. The best team doesn't always win every tournament game IMO. Which is part of what makes it fun. Doesn't diminish what teams DO win games in the tourney. Everyone knows it's one and done going in. It's what makes it so great.

So, you still think Utah St. is much, much better than KState, right?

No. And I never said that. I think they're a bit better, but KState was better today.
