So, you still think Utah St. is much, much better than KState, right?

No. And I never said that. I think they're a bit better, but KState was better today.

A bit better?  Yet you said they would win 7 out of 10. Please explain.

7 out of 10 is a bit better to me, and as I said, that may be off. Maybe more like 6 out of 10. "much" better to me would be more like 8-10 out of 10.

Again, really not a big deal. I could care less.

Kansas State and Utah St. are both good, but if they play 10 times, I'm not sure Kansas State wins more than 3 of them. Strange game.

A bit better?  The team that won, with their stud player not at full strength, is not as good as the team they beat?  They would easily lose a 10 game super series?

If Duke played Virginia Tech 10 times, I think they'd split 5-5.  Based on what, you say?  Based on the actual recent history, like you know, they won one and lost one.  As oppossed to your fantasy speculation which you immediately back tracked on.

Again, I'm talking only "as constructed". With Pullen not at full strength. And no, not easily. 6-7 out of 10 is not "easily" to me. It's slightly better. 5 out of 10 is dead even. If Pullen's at full strength, I think KState is definitely better.

Regardless, they were the better team today, and won.

Can we drop it now?

And I would not say 5-5. Stuff happens in limited samples. The more you expand a sample, the more it changes IMO. I'd say Duke beats VaTech something like 8 times out of 10. But at home, with a crazy crowd, with their tourney lives on the line (and it still wasn't enough, apparently; should have been IMO) they won.

Of course it's speculation; we have no idea. It's an opinion. You disagree; fine. I have no problem with that. Like I said, I think both are good teams.

I'm really starting to believe this alter-ego theory.

You made a silly ass statement.  One that you even drew back on when questioned.  I might choose to discuss this for ten or nine years.  I might even try to get Phil to back me on this.

6 games, 7 games, whatever. It's about the same to me. I'm done with it.

I think that every team that lost today would beat that same opponent in a ten game series.

Dustin.. I gotta be playfully hard on myself.. this is one of those things that I take great pride in doing well. Over the course of about six years and tournaments, I developed a bit of a system that I follow in doing my assessment of how I think things will go. Obviously, its not foolproof, since you've never seen me on TV discussing my perfect bracket, but it definitely has helped me uncover upsets and back off from picking others.

AND I DID NOT USE ONE PIECE OF IT THIS YEAR!!!!

See what it got me? A bloody ass bracket. The entire Southeast is red.

Watching UT implode has made my day.

I picked them because I wanted to see Duke beat them down (and had bets with friends on that happening), but alas, they won't make it there. Pearl will be gone within a week, and the program will go back to complete irrelevance soon. Love it.

Just an embarrassing performance from them (so far). I know they beat Pitt early in the year, and beat Vandy twice, but I really don't think they deserved to even be in the tourney. The "advanced" rankings (ie beyond RPI) back that up. I think not enough attention is paid to what teams do late in the year. A whole body of work needs to be looked at of course, but a team usually grows into what they "truly are" late in the year. And that's also usually going to be a better indicator of what they do in the tourney.

That really is nuts. You don't make a single FT (only shoot 1) and you win by 30?

Wow.

NBA guys discussing Tristan Thompson:

Charles: "Well, I love his body."
Ernie: "Oh, do you Charles? (smiling)"

No, but I do remember Matt saying that JT2 was the best new poster to come online in years!!

I love the new format of all 4 channels covering the tourney.  Didn't think I would like it, but I never have to watch a commercial and there's ball on for 12 hours straight.  Seems like heaven to me!

Don't sleep on Michigan. Like I've said, they scare me a little bit, as a Duke fan. I think that game Sunday will be closer than most Duke fans think. Any team that can shoot the 3-ball like that can give better teams trouble.

Oh, I agree. I'm more scared of them than I would have been of UT, for sure.

Michigan is not a particularly good 3 point shooting team.  In fact, they are one of the worst 3 point shooting (%) teams in the tournament.

I do like the size in the backcourt though.  That could be a bit of a problem for Duke, especially if Morris DOESN'T shoot so many 3's.
