If Paul can stay healthy, I still think he can be that, for PG's. He's that good as an overall player. Nothing he doesn't do well really.

But no, I'd never expect that from anyone as far as Irving. Just saying that he's a similar "type" of player as Paul to me, and has a very good ceiling as an overall PG. I said similar things about Rose as a "type" (like a healthy Jason Williams/cross between Wade/Rose as a PG longterm). He's the no-brainer pick for the Wolves, if they get the chance.

Which pretty much means that Kahn won't pick him.

Paul isn't even better than Kevin Johnson historically to this point, and KJ might not even be top 10. He's a good player, but he's going to really need to pick it up to get into elite company like that.

Even if they have a chance at him, can Kahn really spend 4 1st rounders in 3 years on point guards?

It's ridiculous to think about at this point how badly he has screwed up. Kevin McHale seems like a great drafter in comparison.. Man oh man.

This would be a great.  Would you give up the 19 and Rubio or Wes J/Flynn for a top ten pick.  What is Beasly worth?

Randolph/Love/Beasly/Irving/Burks, might work.

Status: offline 		Totally disagree on Paul historically. He's still young, of course, but he does EVERYTHING well, and has already put up some very incredible seasons for a PG. He's in the elite class already IMO. Hopefully he finally gets some good teammates at some point to help him win. But I think we've already seen what a huge impact Paul can have on a team in his career.

If he were on the Wolves, for instance, they'd be a playoff team.

This is exactly what is wrong with the system right now. You're telling me that kid couldn't use another year of college? And I'm sure he'll do well in workouts and climb the ladder on draft boards too. But he should be back in college. Glad Perry Jones is. I'll fully admit it; I was wrong on Selby; I thought he'd come right in and be awesome; not so much. But he can be; he has the potential. Grow another year in college; it won't hurt you, kid.

I think Steve Kerr had many of the same thoughts on him (kind of laughing at the notion) when it was merely suggested a few weeks ago. Gotta agree.

He needs to lead the league in assits maybe before you start saying he's top 2 point guards of all time. Your opinion is great and all, but Deron Williams has been better than him the last two years, for instance. He's in the mix for best point guards among his peers right now (definitely doesn't even have that locked up), but that isn't close to making him top of all time.

Its called instant gradification. They want the big money and the fame that go with it. Not one of those players believe that there not going to become the next superstar. What me deal with reality, no way man! I should have been alowed to turn pro at 18.

The only year of his careers that Paul hasn't been the best PG in the league are:

2005-06; when he was a 20 year old rookie. And he was still in the conversation.
2006-07; when he was a 21 year old 2nd year player. And he was still in the conversation.
And last year, and only because he was hurt for half the year. When he played, he was the best PG in the league.

Do you really think Deron Williams is better than him? Or has been the last couple years? If so, I just do not agree at all. Chris Paul is an elite PG historically for what he's done so far. It's not just about assists; his all around game is superb. He's still young so of course we can't call his "career" that yet, but if he can maintain health, he's certainly on his way. Give him some semblance of competent teammates for once in his career, and he'd have the wins for the argument too.

He's also led the league in steals 3 times. Is consistently in the top 5 (or higher) in rebounds among PG's, among the leaders in FG% among PG's, is among the leading scoring PG's in the league every year, and yet has still finished in the top 3 among PG's in A/TO ratio every year of his career but one, again, his 20-year-old rookie season, where he finished 6th. And it all goes beyond stats as well. I mean, look at what he's done for New Orleans. Their overall talent is not all that great. Yet they're in the playoffs, again. Look at what they've done in the Paul era.

The year before they got him they were tied for 2nd worst record in the league with 18 wins.
He comes in, with an otherwise horrible roster, and they win 38 wins. Again, as a 20-year old PG.
Next season, same thing; they pick up a win, with a horrible roster, but still finish a couple shy of the playoffs.
07-08 is a ridiculous year, as the only substantial difference they have is Chandler (who they also had in 06-07) and they win 56 games and have the 2nd best record in the West, by 1 game. Again, with not exactly a good cast around Paul.
08-09 Chandler only plays half a season due to injuries, but Paul still gets them 49 wins.
09-10 Paul plays half a season and they fall to 37 wins, and 13 games out of the playoffs.
10-11 Paul's back, their overall cast still isn't that great, and they get back up to 46 wins and a playoff spot.
He's easily one of the most impactful overall players in the game.

There's just no real weaknesses in his game. I feel he's the most underrated player in the entire game. He's a top 5-6 player in this league, at least, IMO.
