According to Charley Walters, Glen Taylor says that Kevin Garnett has told him that he doesn't want to be traded. According to Taylor, the Wolves were not actively trying to shop Garnett, but they were willing to listen to offers for the first time. They were never close to actually making a deal. He said he told Garnett before the draft that he would likely be getting Brewer and one other young player as teammates. Garnett was apparently happy to work with those guys.

It's when he uses his "little birdie" or "don't be surprised" type comments that you know he is pulling it out of his ass.

According to KFAN the Wolves have said they are not trading Garnett. However an unnamed rival GM is adamant that the Wolves are very intent on trading him.

I bet they stay awake all night thinking this stuff up.

What I heard is that Garnett was supposed to be moved to Golden State on draft night as an expansion on the Jason Richardson deal. The problem supposedly is that Charlot was supposed to draft Thornton at #8 for the Wolves, but nobody notified them in time and they wound up drafting Brandon Wright, who apparently the Wolves have no interest in.

Its never a wise decision to believe anything that Glen or McHale ever say. IMO, Taylor is a pretty disingenuous guy, he is only saying this to save face with KG, to try and quell the anger KG was feeling. He has tried to move him, he wasn’t able to get a deal done, he pissed off the only superstar this franchise has ever seen, and the only one this city currently has, so he is trying to do some damage control with said superstar, but behind the scenes he will still entertain trade talks, and even initiate trade talks, all the while maintaining they aren’t trading him. A deal may or may not get done before the season starts, but I am still every bit as convinced that not only have they been trying to move him, but that they are also still trying.

Chad with all the crap I keep hearing on TV, I'm going to wait until KG talks himself. All of the info of trades are coming from sources outside Minnesota. If KG is going to want to clear the air, he will talk to the Minnesota media people as they have always been fair with him. If not, he wouldn't douse them with the powder like he likes to do. That is his fun way of treating them. So come on KG, Give us the scoop.

That is his fun way of treating them. Yep, I tend to believe those, like McCants, who have said KG doesn't want to be traded. I think that is what ticked KG off, that they attempted to move him anyways, and why now Taylor is starting the campaign to make it look like they weren't shopping him. It does two things, 1. its an attempt to reconcile with KG, and 2. builds an excuse/spin to the fans when they are unable to find a deal for KG. It allows them to maintain that the plan all along was to keep KG and build around him for the upteenth time. I don't think we will see any quotes from KG until training camp. He is pretty much in seclusion every summer until then, he keeps to himself pretty good. I was surprised he didn't at least make an appearance at the Espy's, doesn't he usually show up to those? Chad, Welcome! I have been PM'ing strib posters most of the morning to get them over here. Pass the word. Thanks Tim! Hopefully some of the regulars start popping in.

Chad do we know for a fact that there is any truth to all the trade rumors? Most of them were coming from ESPN and I don't trust most of what they announce. They try and build of viewers to keep checking back.

But, there was way more smoke than usual, and KG's own agent confirmed the Boston rumor, and that was the one that started KG's anger... or at least his agents. That was the moment we first heard a comment from KG's camp, and was when he said he would not play for Boston, and if he was to be traded, he wanted it to be Phoenix. I think several other rumored deals were legit too based on the number of GM who were doing a lot of non-denial denials. Few, including Wolves brass until now, said publicly that KG was under no circumstances going to be traded. Even Hoibs on KFAN said that they were always looking to improve the team, and listening to offers. That was a step further than the usual "we aren't entertaing offers for KG" that we have heard in the past.

The Strib board has been very frustrating lately, sometime I find myself reading the realgm board, ha!

So now Marbury is talking about playing in Italy when his contract is up. Now he will be keeping teams from 2 continents from making the playoffs.

Supposedly there is a NBA referee that has been betting on NBA games including games he has been involved in. No name has been released yet, but he is due to turn himself in soon. That is worse then Pete Rose.

Troy Hudson is only guaranteed for 2 years! :ohno: According to the Pioneer Press his agent admitted that the 3rd year is based on performance incentives for the 2008-2009 season. This completely changes the parameters of his buy out negotiations.

It would seem as though the Wolves could negotiate that the third year actually be guaranteed (while it otherwise would not be) in order to offer a higher overall payout, but also be able to reduce the cap hit by spreading the amount over 3 years instead of two. The hammer they hold is that they could otherwise virtually guarantee that Hudson's third year doesn't become guaranteed by not playing him at all.
