Sure. I still expect more though.

Like...?

Westbrook instead of Love, for one example.

Or doing something creative with the 5/6 picks instead of taking TWO point guards.

Or not trading Mario Chalmers for two future LATER 2nd rd picks.

Sorry, just not impressed at all.

I agree how foolish it was to take 2 point guards.

We traded Mayo for love and that looks like a very good move when you consider all we got out of that trade.

Chalmers IMo is way overrated by Dustin but in looking back he would've helped us more than what we got.

My issue is we didn't get Curry and Cousins.
Time will tell.

Two of those three were under McHale's watch. With the other one you failed to say what "creative" thing should have been done.

Taking 2 PGs is pretty creative actually. It's certainly not very common

I thought that taking two point guards was "out of the box" thinking.  It looks like it may still be out of the box.

Just because it's out-of-the-box doesn't mean it's a good idea...

It depends on if these two players were the top players available at that time in the draft.  I hate to break to you guys but we esentially took three wing players in this years draft.  If Beasley plays the three, we have four new wing players on top of the two that we already have.  Thats more out side the box, but I don't see guys arguing over the positions of the off seasons acquisitions all palying the same two positions.  We had Love and Jefferson to build on and Rubio is not here yet.  Even if Flynn and Rubio don't fit, can we then trade Flynn for enough value to make the pick turn out ok.  I have all the confidence in the current Wolves Brass.  Even if the find a player and he doesn't work out here, they move them quickly when they still can obtain value in return.  What else do you want.  Reasonable NBA executives can differ on how a player will work out, so you can debate the what ifs until we are blue in the fase.  I am still pissed that we drafted Pooh instead of Divack.  If we had the Kobie would never have become a Laker.

It seems like the whole roster has been overhauled for the Wolves.  Aren't  Love and Brewer the only players left from the McHale era?

Even from just last season, there's a lot of change.  I guess change is good when you're talking about coming off of a fifteen game winning season.

Pekovic is a McHale draft pick, so he probably counts. And Telfair is back, so that's a "sort of".

But pretty much so. And I'm not sure Brewer has much of a role or future with us.

Brewer is as good as gone. Does anybody really think he'll get more than scrap minutes behind Johnson, Webster, Ellington, maybe Hayward, and likely Beasley taking up minutes at SF and SG?

Whatever weight he's at, he's basically comparable to Amare Stoudamire defensively. He needs to improve dramatically in that department to ever be a truly impact player.

The big difference is that while neither plays any defense, Amare has the tools to be a stud defender - and if he would've come into the league under any different coach he just might be.

Before the ACL injury Al was a much better defender than Amare and probably will be again this year. Amare is the worst defensive big man this side of Mark Blount. His problem is that he has zero interest in playing D.

Al gaining 10 pounds back from last year isn't necessarily bad.  It doesn't necessarily mean he's out of condition.  We don't know.

Count me as one who thinks Al played a little light last year.  It was probably better for his knee, but Al's game never depends on him being a light, nimble acrobat.  He needs to be more of a bull..but a bull with good moves and footwork.

I was excited originally when I heard he lost all that weight.  But after seeing last season, maybe adding 10 back is finally his ideal.  The weight gain might have been a conscious decision on Al's part.

Kahn's moves last year were headscratchers and had virtually everyone in the league either puzzled our outright laughing. The way the season played out mostly supported that. Most NBA people assumed they would take Curry, and those people were correct.

The team won 15 games and were virtually unwatchable last season. They spent their entire first round taking point guards, and ended up with the worst one of the lot as their starter. They competed with only themselves to overpay a questionable center, they have an unproven coach who is likely simply bad, they have worked hard to alienate and practically bench their best player.

Until and unless Rubio gets here, they are going to be a cellar dwellar. Like KG with McHale, Rubio could be the pick that salvages a lot of other questionable, if not bad decisions. I'd be suprised if they win more than 25 games, and it there are more than 10 games that have really good basketball being played by them.

Beasley has a small, outside chance of breaking out, but Rambis and Kahn have shown me nothing that they are the guys to get it out of him. It will have to be all on him.

I don't think anyone in the front office cared one bit about last season.  Last season, and the last two off-seasons were just about blowing up the roster.  Period.

Now, you're starting to see it being re-assembled.  So even though it is still an odd mix, it's very young, and it's still a work in progress, now you have to start judging W's and L's, because this can't go on forever.  This is a very athletic and talented group, but it has potential to still be a gigantic mess.  Because there are still mismatched pieces and they just haven't played together long enough to develop.

I can see anywhere from 10 to 45 wins this year.  Neither would surprise me.  How do you even predict?

And I don't see Rubio as a savior.  I see him as a nice player, hopefully.  But not one who will ever carry a franchise.

Both 10 and 45 would surprise me. We should be in the range of 25 wins. Less than that is disappointing and more than that is an unreasonable jump over last year

Many teams blow up their roster and start over with some semblance of a plan and a lack of putrid basketball being played. If the Kahn's goal was to do the oddest thing possible with his drafts, lose more games than needed, and alienate their best player, their plan is working. Assuming that wasn't the goal, they are not instilling a lot of confidence in me that they actually know what they're doing and have a real plan that will lead to success. I think he has a plan, and it's not that good of one. Taking Flynn was a bad mistake, the biggest key in rebuilding is making smart choices with your picks, and they didn't do that at all. If they keep making talent judgements like Flynn over Curry or competing with themselves only for Darko, we're in for some bad seasons.

I like Beasley somewhat, but I really hope the idea that Rubio isn't a player you can build a franchise around is wrong. Otherwise, it will be a minimum 5 years of basketball not worth watching. That or they make enormous strides in their drafting ability in the future, because the light at the tunnel isn't here unless it's Rubio.

The sooner they get rid of Rambis, the sooner they can play some respectable ball. He's a terrible coach, unless the goal is to bench your best player. Simply dumb.

20 wins would not be suprising at all, based on the roster. 25 wins, i.e. a 10 game improvement, would have to be viewed as a successful season, as sad as that is. 45 wins would mean that both Rambis and Kahn are practically geniuses at their respective positions. That would be very suprising. Neither has objectively shown that potential to date.

This just in, Kevin Love is not demanding a trade from the wolves, despite the purported master plan for alienation employed surreptitiously by the FO during the 2009-2010 season. Did you listen to or watch the game, or are you mired in disparaging the FO & HC? I think I understand your position WRT management; how about evaluating what the Wolves do on the court...

[edit]
Or perhaps you are talking of the brass alienating Beasley; sure sounds like he isn't interested in playing for the Wolves. 21 in 18; he didn't even try.

Curry is a very good player now but the T Wolves tried to hit a home run with Flynn and we will see. Curry fits GS perfectly as a smallish combo guard and that was not what the wolves wanted. The wolves vision: Rubio, Johnson, Beasley, Love, Milicic. That is one big lineup and a good vision which may or may not be better than....Curry,Webster, Beasley, Love, Cousins. I like the Johnson pick especially since we have Milicic, Peckovic, Love, and Tolliver....plus Beasley can play down low. That took some vision because at the draft Tolliver, Pekovic, and Beasley were not officially Wolves yet....

I look at our roster and all spots are viable NBA players that other teams want....we could not say that the last 3 years.....In all my years even when we had the big three (twice) our roster was not this stacked. We have a 30 win team on our hands at least....

I don't think Beasley was any part of a 'vision'.  That move just kind of fell into place.  It was low risk.  They gave up practically nothing for him.  For a team which won 15 games, taking a flyer on a guy with his talent is a no brainer.  If it doesn't work, you're not out anything.
