Bears got their asses kicked by NE. Packers barely got beat, with their backup QB.

I think WHEN you play somebody is important. Had the Packers played NE with Rodgers 2 weeks sooner, I think it's possible the Packers LOSE by 3 TDs. When the Packers played NE, they had MORE film to look at, and NE was overlooking them and their backup QB. I think DETROIT could have played NE that week, and gave them a close game just like the Packers.

Now, I also think that had the Bears or Packers played NE 6 games sooner, when NE wasn't playing that well, it's quite possible the Bears or Packers would have BEAT NE. As I said, it is WHEN you play a team.

I think the Packers have more talent, but the Bears are better coached. The Bears only real studs are Peppers and Hester on returns. Briggs and Urlacher are good, but they are only slightly above average.

In the Bears-Packers' game, the Packers looked to be VERY reliant on the deep pass. IF Rodgers doesn't complete that deep pass to Jennings, I'm not sure the Packers win that game, and the game was at home, and do or die for the Pack. Also, if Lovie hadn't called timeout on the play where Chester Taylor made a long 3rd down, the game might have had a different outcome.

The Packers were also fortunate they got a phantom PI call on a play where Clifton was committing hands to the face that didn't get noticed by the officials. And the Packers were also fortunate they got away with pretty brutal holding and PI in the endzone when the Bears had it 2nd down at the 2 yard line. I thought the officials favored the Bears in the 1st half, Packers in the 2nd half. Perhaps the desired result was the Packers winning, but not covering the spread ?

I think IF it's a playoff game, and the officials are neutral, I think the Bears would probably win. The Bears are more physical, better coached, have a better run game, have home field advantage, and might be coming off a bye.

If the Packers had a running game they would roll through the NFC.

The problem is they have to hope that if they have to play in Soldier Field it is not a game where weather eliminates the deep ball. If so, it will be a real tough road to hoe

I think the Packers upset the eagles this week.  The game plan to defend Vick has been laid out and all teams have to do is see what we did against Vick to see that it works.  the Green Bay defense will be the difference maker in this game....if they come to play.

Go after Vick, force him to his right, contain, and put him on the turf a few times.

I was fully expecting the Bears to put a licking on Aaron Rodgers, but it doesn't seem like they really touched him. I don't see the Eagles doing any better there, so if Rodgers has time to throw, Packers win.

Dom Capers has only recently realized the value of heavy blitzing. In the past, he blitzed some, but didn't seem to want to do it, and the result was his teams getting routinely beat, even on 3rd and long.

Capers is now bringing the heat, and that will probably spell doom for the Eagles. Vick can beat it with plenty of screens, maybe some designed runs where he gets to the outside, or some deep passes and hope if the Packers are cheating, they get called for PI and holding.

I think the Packers are playing well right now, and are likely to advance a week farther than they did last year. Vick is GREAT this year, but I expect at some point Andy Ried will do enough stupid things that the Eagles lose, and it might be THIS week.

Due to the injuries the Packers had at DL and LB, Capers simply couldn't use his scheme to it's full effect. That unit has been stable for the past 6 weeks or so which now has allowed Capers to scheme how he has wanted to. I don't think it was that Capers realized something, it's that his unit isn't rotating new players in every week.

Capers has always been about blitzing from odd places and not doing it so much that the offense knows when it's coming.

I didn't think the Packers were all that beat up on defense last year, and Capers didn't blitz all that much. I think that is a big reason they gave up over 100 points to the Cardinals in the playoff game.

I'm sure the players' health allows him to do more, but I also think Capers has started to realize he has more success when he brings more heat. I think Capers did plenty of blitzing with Carolina, but I also think he backed off at many crucial times, so his defenses lacked killer instinct, so they always LOST in the playoffs. I think that NOT blitzing in 2009, was part of the reason Favre picked the Packers apart for a Vikings' sweep.

This year, the Vikings also had more success on defense, more 'opportunities' for turnovers when they blitzed more after Pagac took over the defense, after Chili was fired.

Last year was the first year of the switch to a new defense and players simply weren't sure enough of their responsibilites and what was expected of them. Thus the pass coverage was poor as proper positioning wasn't established. This year, different story (plus some upgraded personnel).

Capers blitzes plenty, he does a good number of delayed blitzes where the LB reads how the pass protection is and then comes in late. He also will lay off and drop 8. You can't just blitz, blitz and blitz. Aggressive blitzing gets you burned on bigger pass plays then dropping 8 does
.

It is windy as heck here today. If Andy Reid stays with the running game, even if the Packers take a lead, the Eagles have a shot.

If not, I see the Packers winning relatively easy.

The Eagles WRs are not built for this type of weather. On windy days like this you have to catch short passes and take them long. Maclin and especially Jackson are not great over the middle.

Even though I don't expect him to get his usual 5 yards per carry against the Packers, 20 carries for McCoy is essential in keeping Vick from getting killed.

The Eagles CAN run the ball

They can throw deep

The short game and especially the middle areas are where they are weak.

Winds are gusting up to 40MPH right now

Run the ball or perish Andy Reid

Packers 21 - Iggles 16
What a great game!

Offense
  • Can't say enough good things about RB James Starks. Fresh legs and he has a great burst. Runs very much like Grant except with more speed.
  • Rodgers had an up and down game, but mostly up.
  • Too many drops by the Packers. Everyone was guilty but Jones' drop before half could have just about put the game away for the Packers.
  • I just love RB John Kuhn. All he does is make plays. Not speedy or flashy but just had great vision and determination.

    Defense
  • Let too many 3rd down conversions happen, but they stepped up when needed to.
  • Did a very good job against the run.
  • Solid pressure throughout the game.
  • Shields played a very good game and has the speed to keep up with their WRs
  • We love you Tramon!!

    Special Teams
  • The fact that nothing spectacular happened was a good sign.
  • We love you David Akers!!!

Great to get that win and for Rodgers to get that playoff monkey off his back. Big props to the coaching staff all around as the Packers were prepared and came out tough and focused. Time to go get some revenge on Atlanta.

At the end of the game, they were talking how this one playoff win suddenly put Rodgers in with the elite QBs of the league. I don't buy it.

Rodgers was bad in the 4th quarter, and might have showed why he'll never win a SB.

Vick just made a VERY stupid, Brett Favre like pick on 1st down to end the game.

Vick MIGHT have been able to run the ball in for a TD on the SAME play. IF he had done that, I do NOT think Rodgers would have gotten the Packers a FG with less than a minute to play. I thought the Packers had all but LOST the game, then Vick makes a very stupid throw. The game was given to the Pack. It is much like the game the Vikes gave them, the 1st meeting in Lambau this last season, where it had appeared for a second that the Vikes had won with a TD to Harvin.

Despite being given the game, I thought the Packers played VERY well, and seemed to play within the rules. I liked their offensive playcalling in the 1st half, but thought they could have done a better job in the 2nd half.

I don't know if he's in the "elite" yet. But there's not many QB's I'd take over Rodgers for my team right now.

    Brady
    Manning
    Brees
    maybe Rivers

    That honestly might be it.

Brady, Manning, Brees - maybe Rivers, Flacco, Ryan, Big Ben.

Rodgers day could have been better if James Jones had hung onto passes that were right to him. That should have showed Vike fans that he is probably not the BEST option for a #2 WR, there are probably better options out there.

    Packers 48 - Falcons 21
An ass-kicking that wasn't even that close.

    Offense
  • Rodgers was unstoppable. Remind me who the Pro Bowl QB in this game was again?
  • Starks did a good enough job
  • DT Raji as a FB, that was funny as hell.
  • Jones and Nelson just ate up the Falcons secondary, they couldn't be covered.
  • Wasn't forced to punt at all. That's a phenominal stat.

    Defense
  • Only gave up 14 pts
  • Caused 4 turnovers and 5 sacks
  • Tramon Williams is one of the top 3 CBs in the league. He's had a postseason for the ages already.
  • Shields has been a stud and one hell of an undrafted FA find.

    Special Teams
  • After the KO return for a TD, they had great coverage.
  • Crosby is an adventure on FGs
  • Return game was horrible

One of the best games I've ever seen the Packers play. They absolutely crushed the Falcons home mystique, a bit of payback from long ago. I don't believe there's a hotter team right now. Both the offense and defense are playing with supreme confidence and MM and Capers are dialed in with their playcalling. One more game to the SB!!

No way on Rivers and Rodgers has moved ahead of Manning and Brees also

Rodgers is easily the #2 QB in the NFL

Funny how the Vikings fans here talked so much shit about him for 2 years

I would kill for the Vikings to have a QB that good

  • I loved it Craig

I hate ATL and always respected Rodgers

The Chicago game won't be as easy because the Bears will probably sabotage the field!

If it is Seattle you are walking to the Super Bowl

ANd I think you beat the Patriots also

I'm just glad Rodgers stopped doing that TD celebration where he'd point to his junk and then do a pelvic thrust.

Oh I know, it was supposedly a championship belt he is putting on. Nevermind what he MEANS it to be, the REALITY is that he would point to his junk and then thrust it forward. It was gross.
