The Admin/Mod rank is a special rank, the others are not. That's so you don't have to have X amount of posts to moderate, etc.

I feel proud all my Strib children are grown up, moderating and 'admin-ing' well out in the big world, and even assigning unique ranks to individuals (who really are just "the masses we need to keep in line" in the eyes of moderators). :twocents: :pimp: :rant: :homer:

that's 2 so far that have publicly commented about me as a moderator. I'm sure there are others... privately, and even though I only volunteered to "moderate" the Politics threads, because no one else had, and maybe since I'm too :argue: :twisted: :rant: :angry: instead of :) :comfort: :doh2: :? and stupid, I should resign. It's the site admins' call.. I submit my resignation as any type of moderator, because I don't want possible members going "no way!!!! Not THAT IDIOT as a moderator...." yours dy

It seems like the best choice for a volatile thread like Politics is the least volatile poster one can find. Someone who does not really have a particularly strong political opinion and can get along with people of all stripes on that thread. Clearly, Dan would not be the first choice one thinks of when you look at those requirements. Heck, I would not be either!! It is kind of like George Washington as the first President, the best man sometimes is the one that really does not even want the job. My suggestion would be for Tony (Toby) or Todd to moderate that thread because they seem to be able to get along with everyone fairly well and are not all that likely to get in flame wars on that thread. JMO.
