Wow. This story I didn't know:

Keith Olbermann@KeithOlbermann
The late Sid Hartman created the Lakers. And he moved on when the owners vetoed the trade he had arranged to get them the rights to a rookie center named...Bill Russell.

Wow, did not know hat either

Now that is an amazing fact.

Though Phil might have chimed in that King James was too old and injury ridden to be effective.

Glad to see the Lakers tie the Celts for most NBA championships. They were led by two superstars who wanted to come to LA, with one of them expected to resign. It's true they failed to sign LaMarcus Aldridge for whatever reason(s), but the 17th title IMO puts to rest the myth that the aura of L.A. is no more.

Now to the offseason. Anybody want to sign a valuable member of numerous championship teams? Call 1-800 Danny Green. Yours for a mere $15 million. You can have Kuzma too, although with his current contract he is a value.

I remember when ESPN went on a week long tirade that Jeannie Buss and Pelinka should step down. Lakers in turmoil.

Buss and Pelinka owe it all to LeBron's wife.

Nope.

Kobe loved Pelinka and Buss. LBJ loved Kobe. That was the connection.

Being one of the Top 2 storied franchises in the NBA didn't hurt either.

LeBron wanted to be in LA to be around his production company more often. His wife didn't want the family separated and she pretty much demanded they move to LA.

Lakers had more cap room but Clips had arguably better roster at that time. Ingram and Ball were still question marks at that time.

LeBron was a Free Agent and the Clippers only had the MLE to work with.

And all the Clippers high priced players were veterans that wouldn't have been of any intrest to Cleveland in a sign and trade.

So he would've been on a capped out team with no young talent and no apparent path to get better.

He wanted to go to LA for work and family. Basketball was #3. He picked the team that had cap space and a couple young, high lottery picks.

You just said that they had the cap space for another star. Now you're dismissing the team they would build around him.

LBJ himself has talked about trying to live up to being with a franchise with such a storied history.

What you are saying is nothing new.

They were ripped for hiring a defensive minded coach(Vogel). Challenged LBJ to play high level defense again.

They were ripped for signing and resigning Rondo. Key cog in Championship run.

They were ripped for signing Howard who doesn't fit today's game and will be a distraction. Another key cog in championship run.

Finding a diamond in the rough guy in Caruso. Giving him time to develop.

Markieff Morris.

This isn't Jim Buss and some crony running the show anymore.

Magic is my favorite player but he got called out for just living off his name and not doing his job. By Pelinka and Jeannie Buss.

Definitely surprising news:

Adrian Wojnarowski@wojespn

Mike D’Antoni and Ime Udoka are finalizing deals to become assistant coaches under Steve Nash with the Brooklyn Nets, sources tell ESPN. Together, D’Antoni and Nash were the architects of the Seven Seconds or Less Offense with the Phoenix Suns in the mid-2000’s.
