Those were two pretty good finals with Washington (huge Bullets fan then) and Seattle:

Washington:
Hayes
Unseld
Bobby Dandridge telling Motta about practice "I'm an artist not a house painter"
Kevin Grevey
Tom Henderson
Bench:
Kupchak
Greg Ballard
Johnson - guard, forget first name, some skinny guy

Seattle:
Jack Sikma
Marvin 'The Human Eraser' Webster
John Johnson
Freakin Backcourt:
Gus Johnson
Dennis Johnson
Bench:
Downtown Freddie Brown

But Portland had the ultimate' team' with perfect components:
Bill Walton
Maurice Lucas
Bobby Gross
Lionel Hollins
Dave Twardzik
Coached by Jack Ramsey

OK, Love jousting aside, I think that encapsulates what I'm talking about. Going out and getting what you think will win championships, regardless of the cost and risk, is foreign to some. To many. And foreign to many crappy teams, which is fine with me!

It's a sad day when journalists and hacks get it but fans don't.

Here's the deal Phil. LA is expected to compete for the NBA Championship year in and year out. Regardless of luxury taxes, limited free agents, old rosters, a new CBA, blah, blah. There are no excuses. No reasons. No could haves or if only's. They might as well adopt Al Davis' motto, "Just Win Baby!" because that is the expectation.

And Jerry Buss has delivered. Jerry West has delivered. And Mitch Kupchak, the great North Carolina Tar Heel and 6th man in the Bullets championship in the mid-70s, has delivered.

So you go have a party and enjoy your fabricated 3rd party financial moral victory based on "investing less" in a player with one knee and some guy who probably has a Russian machine gun named after him.... because you don't get the winning mentality, attitude, expectations, demands, and pressure.

Bill I am not among those who think that the Lakers have made any bad moves this offseason. They have made good moves and should be in the running to win the whole thing next year. Any team with a front line of Gasol and Bynum should win a good number of their games. Now with Gasol and Howard and a still very good Steve Nash of course they are a title contender. All I am debating with you is that Love is an easily better player than Kobe right now. You are such a Kobe jock rider that you fail to see how little positive effect he has on winning basketball games. .The Wolves with Love, Pek and Kirilenko are going to have a solid front line. As of now we don't have any proven quality at SG and we are hoping for a strong comeback by Rubio. If Rubio comes back strong and Roy/Shved/Buddinger/Williams provide us some solid wing the play the Wolves could win 50 games this year. We are on the rise Hopefully. Last year with Rubio going down makes me feel snakebit like nothing will ever go right for our club.

No, I know Kobe is waning. I don't agree with you about Love vs. Kobe when considering the whole picture but whatever.

Love has won plenty of things. National High School Player of the year for one. Pac Ten player of the year for another. First team all American. Leading his team to the NCAA final four might not be a championship but it is a major accomplishment for a freshman basketball player. One state championship in HS and two runners up. FIBA world championship in 2010. Olympic Gold is another nice thing to add to his resume. Bill don't become a troll.

High school player of the year? As if that could be determined. FIBA? Seriously?

Let me do a word/phrase search. Let's see, I'll enter "NBA"

Returns = None

Stop your knob licking.

I gave you the benefit of the doubt about being a decent human being. Now I know better. He won the National High school player of the year. It is determined. FIBA championship is world Championship of basketball. US Team plays for that title. NBA how about rebounding champion. How about 3 point shooting champion. No he has not won league MVP or NBA title yet but he certainly has won some awards. As for your term Knob Licking that is just freaking sick. You really are a troll.

OK I said you were riding Kobe's jock. Slightly childish on my part but no where near the language that you are using. Other than that nothing antagonistic at all. You have been trolling acting like Love is nothing more than a role player. All I have been doing is pointing out your inaccuracies and you get your feelings all hurt. That language you use is like a third grader. So childish. Grownups don't tell somebody they are knob licking.

Much of the country understands Love is but a role player. Decent but he can't create his own shots. Limited. But he's a good rebounder.

He's a cross between Tyler Hansborough and Blake Griffin, only less athletic.

I post about Love, kgaboom posts about me, go figure.

Dude, you started the personal attacks with your knob licker comment. Now you're going to play victim?

Love isn't just a good rebounder, he's working at one of the top rates in NBA history.

And you apparently didn't watch him much last year, as he demonstrated the ability to create his own shot. He put up 26 PPG; Kobe put up 28, but he needed 4 more shots per game to get the additional 2 points. Love definitively moved out of the category of role player.

We will see if Howard and Nash's back hold up Bill. You can pat yourself on your back (or try as Laker Nation has to ignore the bad backs of Nash and Howard's) all you want but the wolves have put themselves in the running. Roy's knee is an issue but the Lakers have two bad backs to watch.

Twolves

Additions:
Buddinger
Cunningham
Steimsa
AK47
Shved
Roy

Subtractions:
Beasley
Wes
Randolph
Ellington
Tolliver
Darko

Since you are not a Wolves fan the 4 best transactions this offseason are the Subtractions of Beasley, Wes, Randolph, and Darko.

Comical comparison. Hanborough or Griffin...which one is the 3 point shooter? I'll always take actual production versus athletic ability.
Who is much of the country?
Why the Love infatuation......it's creepy.

Knob licker/jock rider? Not that familiar with either of them in a practical sense, but I can see how they both can be perceived as offensive.

Somewhere in this discussion lies a good debate. Kobe vs. Love, right now.

I appreciate the guys that were civil and provided stats. However, there has been no mention of defense. That shouldn't be ignored.

Personally, I don't think that Love is easily better than Kobe. I think it's pretty damn close. And that's one hell of a compliment to Kevin Love.

When talking about defense don't forget that the most significant thing a defensive player can do is end the possession for the other team and gain possession for his own team. How is that accomplished? One of two ways. Forcing a turnover or getting a defensive rebound. Every time Love gets a defensive rebound that ends possession for the opposition. The blocked shot may mess with your opponents head a bit but not all that useful when it goes out of bounds or right back to the opposition.
