+1

November 1970

I was 13... rents thought Alice cooper was really weird and wondered what the heck was I turning into liking cooper and deep purple and other rock ledge s like the stones beetles, .... cooper was the hard one for them to swallow until I started playing Black Sabbath and kiss and Led Zeppelin...

Always the black sheep.. my younger brother was into John Denver and glen campbell, my older into country and jazz..

I listened to classical, rock and pop but not disco or country.. I’m wrecked...

Funny that you posted this Ed. I just heard this song on the radio on Monday or Tuesday of this week. I hadn't heard it in probably twenty years or so for whatever reason on the radio or elsewhere. I listened closely to the words (you could actually understand lyrics) back in those days. Totally depicts the mindset of an 18 year old young man. Life can take you just about anywhere. There are many paths that you can take. The one word of advice I would have for your son is to practice safe sex and not get a young girl pregnant while he is still finding himself. Congratulations.

Which reminds me of this song

And appropriate for those who were serving at that time.

Effin' Walker signed the bill that the lame duck republicans passed limiting the power of the governor and attorney general. What a crock of shit. . 54% of the votes went to democrats and only 46% for republicans
But, because of frickin' gerrymandering the republicans control everything.

Looks like your neighbor to the east loved the idea.

Michigan Republicans voted early Friday to toughen rules for ballot drives and to give themselves the authority to intervene in court cases, capping a contentious post-election legislative session that critics blasted as diluting the power of voters and incoming Democratic officeholders.

The GOP-controlled Legislature sent the bills to Gov. Rick Snyder toward the end of a marathon 21-hour day of voting. Bleary-eyed lawmakers also passed a $1.3 billion budget measure and backed the legalization of online gambling.

It was the final chance to enact laws before Democratic Gov.-elect Gretchen Whitmer takes over for the term-limited Snyder in January. Snyder, a Republican, has not said whether he will sign the measures that would restrict ballot initiatives or let the Legislature automatically enter legal cases, a power that now is reserved for the state attorney general.

Groups currently need hundreds of thousands of valid voter signatures to qualify proposals for a statewide vote, and the signatures can come from anywhere in Michigan. One bill would allow no more than 15 percent of signatures from any one of the state's 14 congressional districts.

"This legislation is nothing more than a power grab meant to undermine the will of the voters," said Sen. Steve Bieda, a Warren Democrat.

---------------------------

Quite a legacy these loser Republicans are leaving. Laughing in the face of democracy. Sick.

Say it aint so!
Our little boy is a man!
Congrats
You've raised an awesome young man from what I've heard and seen.
Been fun hearing about his exploits all these years my friend.
You'll love becoming more of his pal than his Dad (that's what happened to me)
My boys and I have clashed, we've scrapped, we've dug in, but its not possible to care more about each other.
You'll really enjoy him as you move forward now. Even through the tough times.
Its nice to be able to get help from them now, instead of constantly being the helper. Enjoy it Ed.

A milestone!
Still remember being 18 like it was yesterday. Had met the love of my life a year earlier.
18 was so exciting. Felt so free and excited, yet really had no idea where my life was going. Felt invincible. Too self centered looking back, but some great memories. Still feel like I'm 18 when I hear the tunes of that era. Still dance to them. What a wonderful time and what a start to so many adventures.

Happy Birthday to your son.
BEST ALWAYS!!!!

So you're telling me that alcohol including beer and wine was NOT allowed at the Final Four before?

This should be good.

Merry Christmas All!

Just had the kids over for a few hours and gifts were opened. Spending time with them is the greatest gift I can ever have. NEVER enough.

May you have the opportunity to spend time with those you love, and cherish that time.
