Meyer actually quit because he almost killed himself from stress. Can't fault him for that IMO.

I can see the "problem players" argument though. But I have immense respect for him as a coach and genuinely think he's a good guy. He and Saban are the best two coaches in the history of the game to me, and head and shoulders above everyone else right now IMO. And I got to see both of them as class acts first hand last year at an event that changed any negatives I had on either one. Both genuinely love what they do and are true ambassadors for the game.

Totally disagree. If coaching was killing him he wouldn't have come back so soon. I think he's a scum bag. Tolerated all the thugs at Florida and from what
I've heard tries to steal recruits who have already committed to other Big Ten schools.

Lots of talk around here that Peyton may hang it up now so he can get a team in a small window in "his" state of Tennesee. As Tommy Smith figures to sell soon. Would make a ton of sense. He'd be hugely, hugely popular and could start his next chapter right away. And Peyton's presence would go a long way towards them getting a new stadium or major stadium renovations soon. A lot of people think that if he ever decides to get into politics, he'll be Governor of TN one day.

One one hand, if he reads the economy like he reads a defense that would be great. On the other hand, he'd be the ultimate "flip-flopper" always calling an audible.

Meyer's kind of a genius really. I think he saw that he would get completely stressed out dealing with the SEC every year. So instead he goes to the Big10 where he won't be touched. 1 loss total in his first 3 years in the Big10. Now he can beat up on the conference every year (see Big10 title game) and basically have a free shot at the playoff every year. And he's brought all his SEC talent/blueprint with him. They'll be a national title contender for as long as he's there. And now he can claim he's the best coach of all-time. 4 stops, 4 amazing coaching jobs, all within a couple years. And he's now got 3 titles at the age of 50. Saban has 4, but at the age of 63. Amazing.

Sorry for the Oregon fans (Murf/Kurt/Art especially), but you gotta tip your cap to Urban Meyer.

Plus he'd probably have trouble with big speeches or big bills.

I hate the Buckeyes, but at least our conference now has 1 1/2 legit championships over the last 46 years!

Oregon had all the momentum and too many players trying to make great plays instead of routine plays like tackling and making catches on well thrown balls on 3rd down instead of dropping them. As such, Ohio State took over the momentum and ultimately, beat Oregon down physically.

But how many tackles did Oregon defenders miss early in the game in the zeal to make a huge defensive play?

Ohio State......well coached, especially during the game......didn't lose faith.

Oregon.....not so. I think at one point when Ohio State was taking control offensively, I would have called time out and settle my defense down.

And then, Oregon gets 4 turnovers from Ohio State and can't do anything.

Finally, if I am a coach and my player drops the ball before he crosses the end zone line, I take him and shoot him on the spot.......be it collegiate or professional. I know they upheld the TD but why make it even an issue. Stupid football players.....stupid.

Question: Assuming Urban Meyer doesn't leave, does Ohio State lose a conference game in the next 2 years?

They've lost one, and only barely, in 3 years.

I say no. They'll be heavy favorites to be in the playoffs for the next 2 seasons. Urban may lose 2 of his 3 QB's this offseason, but he's got another stud coming in.

I know there is a lot of dislike to Meyer and he is a prick and Zimmerman seems to be ok......

But I wouldn't mind have the prick coach the Vikings.

I am tired of us having nice guys for coaches. Time to bring on some assholes and get some wins.

That's what I like about Zimmer, actually. I think he is a bit of a prick.

Look at almost inarguably the best 5 coaches in America right now (I can't really comment on hockey): Coach K, Popovich, Meyer, Saban, and Belicheck

All perceived as pricks (though I'd disagree in most cases of that list): all among the best coaches EVER in their sports, if not THE best ever.

Harbaugh will have the Michigan/OSU rivalry properly revived in no time. Don't be surprised to see Michigan and Wisconsin both pushing OSU hard.

I think Harbaugh will in 2-3 years (I grew up a Michigan fan as well as a Gopher fan) but I don't see Wisconsin doing jack against OSU. I think the 70-0 throttling in the Big10 title game is going to be more of what we're going to see the next couple years. They're just miles ahead right now. As I've said; OSU is SEC North now. It's all the same players/systems he had at Florida now.

I agree. Wisconsin will likely still do well in the Big Ten West but can't compete with OSU. Unfortunately you actually have to be a student at schools like Wisconsin and Minnesota not just an athlete. And get it right - we only lost 59-0!

Not sure I want the two to meet, however.

I'm good with one of the 3 outcomes:

Pats (love Brady/Belicheck)
Colts (love Luck)
The apocalypse. The Packers/Seahags are easily my two least favorite teams in the league.

I can live with that.
