Kent Hrbek in the exhibition game.

Dave Engle in the regular season.

Good guess.

Correct on both.

Useless and Worthless knowledge!!

The first home runs at Target Field by major leaguers were Denard Span in an exhibition and Jason Kubel in the regular season.

Joe Mauer took several months to get his first dinger there.

Can you believe that I finally found someone to play Star Trek Scene it with me?  They realized their folly very quickly.  Their humiliation was complete.

From my Twins/MLB Trivia calendar(which so far has had TWO Twins-related items in the first 2 weeks of January)

Who was the first player to have his uniform Number retired?  (MLB, not Twins)

Not Honus. He was an original inductee to the HOF, but not the first for a numerical retirement.

A lot of the early players didn't wear numbers. I'm guessing that might rule out Walter Johnson.

Lou Gehrig

YES! I thought I had heard that somewhere along the line. My memory hasn't completely failed me yet.

According to this calendar....

Who is the all-time home run leader for players who throw right handed, but bat exclusively left-handed?

Or, you simply googled it...

Trivia just isn't the same as it used to be. I love how people get the right answer and act like they didn't just look it up.

Uh, is it Jim Thome? I know he's 8th overall and I am pretty sure the three lefties ahead of him all throw LH.

If not Tovar then it's Bert Campaneris.
