9th inning, Hicks 2-4, draws a walk, down 6-3

Am sure Ryan is pissed.

He scored on a double to make it 6-4.

Loss on Hicks.

CPAMAN I don't hang around this board much but you certainly seem like Mr. Negativity. Maybe you are just trying to be a realist in your mind. The consensus on Sano and Buxton has Buxton right at the very top of all prospects and Sano is considered at least a top 20 prospect. Even if you are right they are Twins players so why would you want to call them disparaging names?

Skilz, it's great to see that your scanner is working again. That thing sure has seemed to go on the fritz a lot over the years.

Nice to see at least post that resembles what this place is about.
Thanks Pete and Skilz

A lot of people here seem to believe that these two guys are destined for greatness and will be all-stars. Some here act as if it is a foregone conclusion already. Both players haven't done anything to distinguish themselves since they were in A ball in 2013. Both are coming off injuries. Can we hold on a second before we put them in the ASG??

I think Mark is just teasing some of these people. No one should be butt hurt and yet some people are.

Aaron Hicks is a 25 year old "still prospect" that has a solid minor league track record, very good tools, and is a former 1st rd pick. And he's had a whopping 538 major league plate appearances.

And in those 538 plate appearances he hit .201

He has also proven to be a space cadet many times over.

NO way in hell should he have been handed the starting job for the third year straight. He needs to ride the bus a while and do some soul searching. One month and change of hitting fairly well doesn't have me sold. He can cool off just as fast as he got hot. He can come up here and be the same piece of crap hitter he's been the last two years. THere is an endless list of players who can't break through at the major league level because they JUST CAN'T HANDLE IT. As of right now, I think Hicks is in that category. ANd since you don't have a crystal ball, you're opinion isn't the truth. For some reason you act like it is. We have different opinions. Big deal. Move on.

And for some of you guys who are on the Hicks bandwagon thinking he's getting screwed somehow.....I'd say blame Molitor for Hicks being in AAA. He laid it all out in this article:
http://www.twincities.com/twins/ci_27805183/minnesota-twins-paul-molitor-explains-aaron-hicks-demotion
On one hand Molitor is the greatest thing since vanilla pudding, but on the other Hicks is getting screwed? On one hand, you are mock me Mark, myself and others for not having the qualifications to evaluate prospects. On the other hand, here's Paul Molitor pretty much saying what I have said the guy needs to do. It used to be the Twins are screwing him and Gardy was giving him the shaft. How come you aren't ripping Molitor?

This Hicks discussion is hilarious.

Thanks for posting this Ralph. Many on here complain that Spring training is a farce and that players are not truly given a chance to prove their worth and make the team based upon merit during Spring training games. Hicks played himself out of a roster spot in Spring training. He sucked at everything! He made several poor fielding plays including a few bad angles at balls he should have caught in the OF. He was thrown out on the basepaths on balls in play and a couple times attempting to steal against minor league pitchers on the mound. His bat was silent as usual. He is where he should be and where he should stay until at least July 1st.

All the complaining about Hicks being down and yet not a single thing about Molitor thinking that Hicks needs more work and that he is where he belongs.

I would invite anyone to weigh in on what Molitor said here:

I think this Hicks discussion is about as hilarious as the "Who's on First?" bit by Abbot and Costello

Can we please get real here? Chris Colabello hit .352 in that same league with 24-76 (in 338 at bats mind you) before he was called up in 2013. Hicks is where he belongs.

Someone care to steer me to where "All this complaining about Hicks being down" is at. All I seem to come up with is one opinion who would prefer to see him make or break in the bigs, and a couple acknowledgements of how well he seems to be doing where hes currently at.

Here is one post from Dustin regarding Hicks. The discussion goes back to around pages 97-100.

1) Batting average? What is this? 1980? Schafer's OPS is .562. .562! Batting average means basically nothing. We can't really have an intelligent baseball discussion if you're going to have just straight batting average be your measure. Again, Hicks was better than that for the last 2 years, even in his "horrible" time. I actually applauded Schafer for his time last year and thought "ok, he can be a decent 4th OF'er". This year he has made even that tough to swallow with what he's done.
2) The Twins' record should have nothing to do with playing time for an individual position. Hicks provides more than either Schafer or Robinson does. Those guys are 4th OF'ers. Hicks can be much more than that.

Aaron Hicks is a 25 year old "still prospect" that has a solid minor league track record, very good tools, and is a former 1st rd pick. And he's had a whopping 538 major league plate appearances.
Jordan Schafer is a 28 year old who has a career .618 OPS in 1461 PA's (and even those numbers are enhanced given his steroids track record). And he's not as good defensively as Hicks.
Shane Robinson is a 30 year old with a career .627 OPS (not much better) and a .734 minor league OPS (despite his advanced age).
Both of those career OPS's, by the way, are only barely better than Hicks in his "disastrous" first 500 PA's. And all with worse defense.

Ya, Hicks may not become all he's capable of, but there's no question who we should be playing right now of those 3 guys.

As a Twins fan I don't find Buston and SayNo to be funny. I just asked him his stand on this. I'm certainly not declaring either of them all stars already but I am hoping for the best out of the. We have a Vikings poster named Jeff Allen who hated us taking Bridgewater last year and still won't acknowledge so far so good. It's a free country so do what you want.

career at a crossroads at his age.

needs a Roy Halladay makeover maybe.

change arm slot and start mechanics rebuild or something else drastic.

or just leave him be and make reliever and tell him to just let it fly hard as he can, for as long as he can.

Who'd feel comfortable in the box against him at that height and him just wingin' with all he's got 1 inning at a time?
