Looks like Balazovic has face planted out of the gate this year. His stock is falling with every start.

Eat crow on Smeltzer, Sweeney.

Sweens I don't remember you ever saying he wasn't a decent 6th/7th Starter bullpen guy....when the top 2 starters are Dobnak and Smeltzer that is an obvious problem (I think that was your point a year or two ago).

I saw him as a fringe major leaguer at best. Not much in the stuff department, but left handed and breathing. Apparently he had arm issues last year and couldn't feel his grip on the ball. That problem has cleared up and his breaking pitches do look a bit sharper. So far, so good, but all of his success has come against bad teams. If he continues to have this level of success against the better teams in the league, I will happily scarf down crow.

I saw a stat about Smeltzer 2 years ago that his spin rate was top 10 in the league even though he didn't throw as hard. I will see if I can find the article.

Smeltzer is a helluva lot better than Al Bundy and that Sands guy yesterday.
Maybe his success has come against weak teams but they sure tend to give the vaunted Twins headaches.
Wait, we're 1 and 2 thus far against the juggernaut Detroit and split with the powerhouse Royals at home.

I can't believe Sands is on the 40 man, let alone getting chances to start major league games.

Sands needs to still work on his delivery. He reminded me of the CWS closer I saw a few weeks ago trying to pitch with a bad back. Doesn't seem smooth at all. (Hendricks).

I've been going through the performances of the high draft picks of the Falvine regime and have come to the conclusion that they aren't very good at it. It's not a mystery as to why the prospects we get in our annual fire sales go right into our top 5 prospect list.
