Great article, thanks for sharing.

One question, how can you be 21, a Pro athlete, Asian, and overweight?

Note, I hope my comment does not offend anyone who is Asian, it's actually a compliment as most Asians tend to eat sensible diets and get routine exercise.

Surprising there haven't been more successful Taiwanese ballplayers in the majors......

Especially considering their past domination of the Little League WS competition.

Depends on how long you can really keep a guy at a low contract, but I think I'd lean having Buxton on my team either way.

Would you rather have Zunino at $1 and able to keep him for one more year at that price, or Singleton at $1 and be able to keep him for 2 more years at that price?

I'm leaning Singleton because of the extra year (I've yet to place him in my starting lineup, so I guess I Twinsed the arbitration system). Both are killers with their batting averages. I figure I can either re-draft Zunino at a higher price or find a different catcher in the draft. I'm tempted to dump both of them as there are a limited number of guys I can keep, but I've had Singleton on my team for so long I hate to drop him just as he may begin to come into his own.

Singleton, but I'd have a short rope for him. If he doesn't show something this season I'd dump him and move on.

A good pitcher to stash if you have the room and a lot of patience is Dodgers lefty Julio Urias. Just a pup but getting raves for talent and composure combo.

A "Yard Goat" is a tractor-like vehicle that is used to reposition railroad cars. This is supposedly honoring Hartford's "rich tradition" of railroading. Except that, when you ask RockCats management what that tradition is, you draw a blank. I've lived in greater Hartford since the 1940s and also know some history, and I have no recollection of a big railroad center. It's just more embarassment for this area after the Summer 2014 fiasco of the team move announcement. Sentiment for the new name is mostly negative.
(I can't wait for the 2016 series between the Yard Goats and the Akron (Cleveland) Rubber Ducks. ) Overall a good move for the Twins to get out of this nonsensical situation.

LHP Lewis Thorpe, 20-yr-old Australian pitching prospect, came out of his last outing with elbow pain, per #MNTwins farm dir Brad Steil.

Lewis Thorpe was shut down for 2014 Midwest League playoffs with UCL sprain in throwing elbow. Will undergo MRI this week.

I don't what ever possessed me to believe he would be OK with rest when they shut him down last year. Let's face it, Kohl Stewart's UCL is a ticking time bomb.

Nate Hanson and Heiker Meneses joined Kvasnicka with two hits apiece. Glen Perkins, who last pitched in an exhibition game on March 4, started for the Wings and allowed one hit with one strikeout in 1.0 inning.

Berrios made one start for the Red Wings late last season after making 24 starts between Single-A Fort Myers and Double-A New Britain. His 62-pitch performance helped Rochester improve to 3-0 this spring with two wins over Durham. Wilkin Ramirez went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one RBI and one run scored while Reynaldo Rodriguez continued his hot start with the Wings by going 2-for-3 with three RBI, including a big two-run single in the sixth inning.

Monday, March 23 - Norfolk (BAL) 5, Red Wings 2 (6+ innings)

The Norfolk Tides used a three-run sixth inning and mother nature to beat the Rochester Red Wings 5-2 in a six-plus inning, rained-shortened affair Monday afternoon at CenturyLink Sports Complex. Ervin Santana, signed to a four-year deal as a free agent by Minnesota in the offseason, got some work in on the back field and allowed one run on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 4.0 innings. After scoring 24 runs in four spring games against International League opponents entering Monday the Red Wings scored twice on just four singles. Brock Peterson and Kyle Knudson each drove in a run for the Wings.

Tuesday, March 24 - Red Wings 6, Pawtucket (BOS) 1

Taylor Rogers allowed one run over 4.0 innings and four relievers pitched shutout ball the rest of the way as the Rochester Red Wings beat the Pawtucket Red Sox 6-1 Tuesday afternoon at CenturyLink Sports Complex. Rogers, a Double-A All-Star in 2014 with New Britain, struck out five batters and yielded four base hits without walking a man. He won 11 games for the Rock Cats last season. Lester Oliveros, Stephen Pryor, Ryan Pressly and Michael Tonkin were all solid in relief. Nate Hanson homered as part of a 3-for-4 while Tony Thomas and Heiker Meneses also went deep for the Wings.

Thursday, March 26 - Red Wings 3, Pawtucket 3 (final/9 innings)

The Red Wings and Red Sox played to a 3-3 tie Thursday afternoon at the Red Sox Complex in Ft. Myers. Wings starter Greg Peavey struck out four and allowed one hit in four scoreless innings. Michael Tonkin fanned four in 1 2/3 relief innings. Adrian Salcedo and Ryan Pressly also pitched for the Red Wings; the PawSox hit three solo homers for their scoring. James Beresford had two hits for Rochester including a two-run single, and Mike Kvasnicka had a pair of doubles as the Wings out-hit Pawtucket 11-8.

Friday, March 27 - Red Wings 3, Durham (TB) 3 (final/8 innings)

Pat Dean tossed 5.0 scoreless innings while tossing 41 of 59 of his pitches for strikes as the Rochester Red Wings and Durham Bulls played to a 1-1 tie in eight innings Friday afternoon at Charlotte Sports Park. The game was called before the ninth inning due to rain as most of Florida was impacted by wet weather. Dean struck out three while allowing three hits. The third-round pick by the Twins in 2010 out of Boston College made 26 starts for Double-A New Britain last season. Wilkin Ramirez and Heiker Meneses went 2-for-3 and Reynaldo Rodriguez had an infield hit, stolen base and scored the only run for Rochester. Wings left fielder Danny Ortiz threw a runner out at the plate to save a run.

Red Wings 1, Norfolk 0

Starter Jason Wheeler worked 5.0 scoreless innings while allowing two hits with one walk and two strikeouts as the Rochester Red Wings beat the Norfolk Tides 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Buck O'Neil Complex. Brock Peterson provided the only run of the game for Rochester with an RBI single. Each team managed just four hits. Wheeler threw 72 pitches but first-pitch strikes to just five of 18 batters. Logan Darnell (2.0 IP), Ryan Pressly (1.0 IP) and Lester Oliveros (1.0 IP) worked in relief for the Wings. This spring, Rochester starters have pitched to a 0.72 ERA (3 ER, 37.2 IP) and have not allowed more than one run in any of the 10 starts against International League opponents. As a staff, Wings pitching has yielded more than four runs just once (five, March 23 vs. Norfolk).

Jacob Lindgren | Rank: 9

http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2015?list=nyy

check out number 9. His Grandpa is my former mentor at work in Minneapolis. Grandpa lives in Brooklyn Park. He got to go watch his grandson in Spring Training this year and while Jacob nearly made the squad out of camp this year he will start year in minors.

ETA: 2015 Position: LHP Age: 22 DOB: 03/12/1993 Bats: L Throws: L Height: 5' 11" Weight: 205 lb.
Drafted: 2014, 2nd (55) - NYY

VIDEO
Scouting grades: Fastball: 60 | Slider: 65 | Changeup: 45 | Control: 45 | Overall: 50
The Yankees didn't have a first-round pick in 2014, but they may have gotten a first-round talent with their top choice (second round, 55th overall). Lindgren helped pitch Mississippi State to the College World Series as a starter in 2013, then became one of college baseball's most dominant relievers last spring. He continued to excel out of the bullpen in pro ball, striking out 48 in 25 innings while reaching Double-A.

Lindgren's stuff jumped when he started working in shorter stints. His fastball improved from 87-91 mph to 91-95, and his slider became a legitimate knockout pitch at 82-84 mph with late bite. When hitters manage to make contact against him they have difficult keeping the ball off the ground, which is why he surrendered just two extra-base hits between college and pro ball last year.

Lindgren's sinking changeup gives him a decent third pitch that he doesn't need much now that he's not a starter. His control wavers at times, but once he shows he can throw strikes consistently against upper-level hitters he'll be ready for New York. He could become the Yankees' closer in the future.

The reason I post this is this is the kid I wanted the Twins to draft in the first round last year. He is a dear friend of mine's grandson, so I got to follow along with his senior year of college and the build up to last year's draft. Boston, Kansas City and the Twins all told him they would use a first round pick on him. Yankees told him he was theirs if he lasted to pick 55. Until now I have been anti-Yankees. But I am so excited for my friend and his grandson, I will be rooting for Jacob when he makes it up this year. Cashman and the organization have already nicknamed as the "Strikeout Factory."
