Red Wings Aaron Hicks currently on an 11 game hitting streak. (3-5 today)
Hicks is batting .400 (16/40) w/ 9 runs, 5 RBI's & 7 BB #MnTwins

Can't do a whole lot more ...

Why is everyone so down on Schafer??

Lousy offense, almost as lousy defense. Some games even worse than his offense.

I guess we can assume he's hitting from both sides of the plate to continue the streak

He's the model of consistency.

Hard not to like him, he's got some LRod, some Hocking, and some CoCo in him.
I see where you're coming from.
And Maestro, I almost forgot Maestro.

25% failure by SMF. I can't stand Hocking. I did grab a sweet pic of someone rocking a Coco jersey in Oakland. Wish I could post it here but file too large. And too dumb to figure out another way to post it. Could send it to Ed if he hadn't given his phone to William. That used to be a nice option for me.

The best Hocking moment might have been when the Twins beat Oakland in the '02 playoffs. His finger was stepped on during the pileup and it was said to be Jacque Jones.

Adrian Salcedo suspended for 80 games. Tested positive for a steroid AND a stimulant. So much for another hot prospect.

I just pick up the conversation where it currently is Matt. I used scour back pages to see what I missed, but all I would ever find was something you wrote, so I quit doing it.

Thursday night's performance by the Twins' No. 1 and No. 2 prospects showed why Byron Buxton and Miguel Sano are two of most highly touted players in the Minors. The Double-A Chattanooga stars both have had slow starts this season, but together they excelled in a 6-4 loss to Jacksonville.

Buxton, baseball's No. 1 overall prospect, was 2-for-4 with a triple, walk and two stolen bases. Down three runs in the sixth, Sano started a two-out rally with his fourth home run of the season. He was 1-for-3 with a walk. The Lookouts ended up tying the contest, 4-4, but fell behind again in the eighth.

Chattanooga's hitting coach, Chad Allen, said that Sano needs to relax at the plate.

"Early in the year, he's really tried to do too much," Allen told MiLB.com. "He's got a lot of strength and everybody that faces him knows he's a strong young man and can hit the ball a long way. At the same time, he himself is trying to do too much.

"We hit early today and just really tried to slow him down and let the ball come to him. Let him understand he doesn't have to exert himself just to hit the ball hard."

The powerful pair of Twins prospects have struggled at the plate this year. Sano's batting average has yet to top .200 this season, while Buxton, the No. 2 pick in the 2012 Draft, now sits at .236 with seven stolen bases, including five in his past four games. Sano, who signed from the Dominican Republic in 2009, checks in at .159 with nine RBIs.

"I think with Buxton, just like with Miggy, both of those guys started off pretty slow," Allen said. "Neither one of them is even close to where they want to be.

"Buxton, he's a quick learner. He's always asking questions, just like Miggy. They're both great kids. ...They're tremendous talents. They want to learn. They're the kind of guys you want. They want to learn, get as much knowledge about the game as they can. Both of them are going to get it."

Chih-Wei Hu is going to be one of the Twins top 10 prospects by the end of the season.

Gonsalves and Hu are going up.

Stewart and Kepler will trend downward.

It's just a matter of which one gets TJ surgery and which one tests positive for PED's.

2014 Lester Oliveros in Rochester:

1.69 ERA 10.2 IP 6 H 3 BB 21 K 0.844 WHIP

By all means, let's not promote this guy.

You'd have to clear a 40-man spot now.

Heresy!

Amid all of the tantalizing young talent in the Twins system, 21-year-old righthander Chih-Wei Hu stands out as a sleeper, but maybe not for much longer if he keeps up his current pace at high Class A Fort Myers.

Signed as a Taiwanese amateur in 2012 for $220,000, he throws a low- to mid-90s fastball that peaks at 95 mph, a low-80s changeup with a strong fade and a curveball in the mid-70s. Hu also throws something you don’t often see these days—a palmball. The pitch behaves more like a split-finger fastball than a changeup, despite a changeup-like velocity reading in the mid-80s. Hu has impeccable control, having walked one batter in 18 innings this season and a measly 0.5 per nine for his career.

Fort Myers manager Jeff Smith likes the aggression he’s seen from Hu this season. “I’m very impressed with several things about the (pitch) mix,” he said, “but the biggest thing is the way that he attacks the hitters. He attacks with the fastball, and he commands in and out and up and down in the zone . . . He’s got the intangible of being a competitor. He’s fun to watch compete.”

Hu fanned 10 in his second start this season, then bested Mets prospect Marcos Molina in his most recent turn with six innings of five-hit, one-run ball with four strikeouts and no walks. One of his few blemishes that day came on a leadoff home run he surrendered to St. Lucie’s Champ Stuart, which is notable because it was the first and only home run that Hu has allowed in 125 career innings.
