If he can't hit Righties he is a low level platoon player at best since obviously, there are more right handed pitchers. I was going to look up how he his hitting splits are....

Yes, because Schafer and Robinson have such wonderful splits....

Both guys are terrible. At least Hicks has the talent to actually do something. It's time to see him and Rosario BOTH and let's fix this outfield defense and cover up for Torii. And I have no doubt that Hicks won't be any worse this year than Schafer's amazing .562 OPS. In fact, he was better than that both of the last 2 years, with Gardy at the helm. With much better defense. There's no reason for Hicks not to be up right now.

Doug Bernier up, Nunez to the DL

An oblique issue. Really? Nunez must not have worked out enough in the offseason. For a skinny guy, must have been out of shape.

Bernier jumps onto the roster again. 9 lives.

Erv onto the restricted/suspended to make room.

How can any athlete get an oblique injury? Seriously? Working out 101 stuff avoid this injury entirely.

Seriously this medical staff needs to be fired. Do these idiots not know how to stretch by now?

Oh, Whooopeee!!!! Bernier gets another chance. Maybe we should go grab us up some Nick Punto or Drew Butera too! Is Brendan Harris available? How about LewLew Ford? Can we talk Kubel or Bartlett out of retirement?

Why in the holy shit was he not on this list already?

20 reps each way on a sitting down oblique machine at 100-130 lbs three times per week will ensure this injury could NEVER happen. Not rocket science.

That simply isn't true. I know people who work out religiously and gotten oblique injuries.

Sure there is a reason. If Hicks doesn't play MLB and play it decently, I win $50.

Hicks splits in 2013:

RHP .189
LHP .203

2014

RHP .178
LHP .279

That is why he is in the minors & yep Schafer/Robinson splits are better. Hicks isn't getting picked on...he hasn't been able to hit RHP. If both guys have been terrible---what does that make Hicks?

The Twins are over .500 with those 2 splitting CF. They went in the tank with Hicks in CF the last 2 years.

The timing for bringing up Hicks should have absolutely nothing to do with Robinson and Schaefer. The only thing that matters to me is that Hicks has had enough success at AAA and enough confidence through that success to be ready for another shot. Hicks has been set up to fail too many times by this organization. If the time is right for him then bring him up. If he would be better served by a couple more weeks of success then give him a couple more weeks. The undynamic duo is irrelevant to the equation.

They were in the tank two years before Hicks arrived.

This was a short term callup for Rosario until Arcia is back.
The organization really doesn't want Hicks until Hicks can stay. They don't want a two week or less cup of coffee for him. For Rosario it's a taste.

When they have a need that is longer term, they will bring up Hicks. and as you said, give him more success to boost his confidence. It can only help.

Yes but Hicks performance was helping things.

There it is right there Phil. Hicks never hit this well at AAA until this year. Looks like he has figured something out finally. They rushed in up here with the trades of Span and Revere

Oh right...I forget that Schafer and Robinson have been key cogs in our record thus far.

And come on Tim, Mark and Ralph have extensive experience training athletes at the professional level. We should trust their judgment there.

We obviously know more than the jokers they call the trainers for the Twins. There are simple exercises you can do that prevent these ridiculous (absolutely should never happen) injuries that happen to players within the Twins organization. Most of the injuries occur because these players are NOT athletes. They play baseball but are certainly not athletes.

Did you see that pic of Joe rehabbing in Cedar Rapids last year?

I don't know if you remember last year Dustin yes they are key cogs as they aren't just easy outs. Santana and Escobar replaced Hicks at bats last year.....Florimon was extremely lousy....Hicks was just lousy.

The Twins starting pitching hasn't been the best the last 4 years...they can't have guys that are automatic outs. Last year they didn't have a chance by giving away 3 outs every game.

THAT A WAY EDDIE>>>>>>>>

What are you talking about???? Schafer and Robinson are more automatic outs than Hicks will ever be. AND worse defensively. That's the whole point. Hicks and Rosario should both be playing.

Oh don't be offended. Look at Hicks last 2 years....he hasn't approached what either Schafer and Robinson have for current averages. They both have speed and Robinson can play Defense at all 3 OF spots.

You wanting Hicks playing OF has blinded you. The Twins are over .500 w/o Hicks and he isn't getting a promotion as long as they are over .500 because he can't hit as well as a Robinson/Schafer platoon yet anyway---those 2 have been far from automatic outs. Schafer and Robinson have been hitting well lately.

I see Arcia, Escobar, Rosario, and Buxton blocking Hicks playing time. The Twins had a grand opportunity to trade away Escobar this offseason and just can't let him go.

I know he's really not very good but it's tough to take your argument seriously right now when Robinson is batting .340.
