Very strange Wiggins hasn't signed his contract yet. Or has he? Wiggins will probably be the most compelling story on this team. Will he accept his role? Will he improve his defense and rebounding? Will he clash with Butler? I fear things could go south with him eventually asking for a trade.

Its an interesting point since he essentially becomes untradable the second its signed.

I wonder if the hold-up is on him or us?

Maybe he's asking to be traded instead of signing it because he doesn't want to be the 3rd fiddle? Or maybe Thibs is considering trading him and wants to see how he fits with the current team.

Regardless, I really, really think we should trade him now before he signs it. Even getting peanuts will likely be a better move for the team long term than paying him a big contract. I just don't think Wiggins has it in him to be worthy of that big deal.

I think Wiggins is going to be a very good player. Probably one of the 30 best in the NBA. I sure don't want to trade him for peanuts.

I think that ship has sailed. We would look desperate and get chump change.

Esp when you consider we could have got George or Irving and we weren't willing to deal him then why now.

pretty sure, like it or not, Wiggins is here for the long haul

Why?

Those were both bandied around by posters, but neither was close to being confirmed by anyone reliable. Irving went for a better haul than Wiggins, so that one was unlikely to be true.

Probably.

If given the chance to start over, 29 percent of the league’s general managers would choose to rebuild around Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns.

That’s according to the NBA’s latest GM survey, a yearly poll of the league’s decision-makers.

MORE TIMBERWOLVES COVERAGE

NBA GMs vote Wolves star Towns best player to build around

Towns beat out Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks (21 percent) and LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers (19 percent), and was also voted the league’s best center (28 percent) and the most likely player to have a breakout season (21 percent).

A few GMs also voted Towns the league’s best power forward (seven percent).

Teammate Andrew Wiggins took fifth in the breakout player category with seven percent.

The GMs are also bullish on Minnesota’s new-look roster, picking the Wolves to finish fifth in the western conference behind Golden State, Houston, San Antonio and Oklahoma City.

Minnesota (14 percent) trails only Boston (25 percent) and Oklahoma City (43 percent) in the “Which team made the best overall moves this offseason?” category, while their acquisition of Jimmy Butler (17 percent) was the second-most popular answer to “Which one player acquisition will make the biggest impact?”

The Butler deal also took third (10 percent) for the most underrated acquisition of the offseason, and received a handful of votes for the most surprising move.

The Wolves were the league’s most-improved team by a wide margin, taking 69 percent of the vote to Philadelphia’s 17 percent.

Tom Thibodeau (34 percent) has the league’s second-best defensive systems, while Jamal Crawford (10 percent) ranked third in the category of players who will make the biggest impact off the bench this season.

Warriors can't miss, Wolves don't appear to be running any kind of offense.

Nice 3 by KAT for our only FG. 4/4 from range this preseason for him.

KAT is showing off some of his skills.

Teague looks much less good against Curry than he did against Ball.

Wiggins with a nice drive in transition, but has been lost in the halfcourt.

This is hard to watch. Awful 1st quarter on both ends.

KAT: 2/2 from 3, but 1/7 from 2.
Wiggins: Looked lost.
Teague: Was awful.
Butler: Dominated the ball, but didn't actually do anything.
Gibson: Was also on the floor.
Bazz: Was Bazz...Officially 0/2 from the field, but only because at least 2 other shots didn't draw iron.

Dieng playing well.

What this game really illustrates though is...just how bad the Lakers are...

Wiggins does have 3 rebounds in 9 minutes, so he's continuing his increased effort there.

Deep in the 2nd quarter and its getting a little more watchable.

The KAT and Butler 2 man game needs to be the staple our offense is built around.

Teague is making me miss Rubio. 0/7, missing at the rim, wildly missing 3s.

I expect that he'll generally shoot better, but man, he gives you nothing when his shot isn't falling...

Gibson with 3 made 3s so far this preseason.

He has 4 for his NBA career.

Man, Crawford takes SO MANY bad shots.

Scary stat: No player had a higher % of his possessions result in an isolation attempt than Crawford last year. Over 25%.

We're definitely a scrappier/chippier team than in the past.

Much needed.

Bjelica is so frustrating.

He can do a little of everything, but nothing quite good enough. He's so damn close to being a good player.

Bazz still with absolutely no idea of the difference between a good and a bad shot.

Jordan Bell looking good for GS.

I liked him at #16 for us. I think his size is going to limit his upside, but he looks like a 10+ year solid rotational guy.

After that first half, I did not see a double-digit win for us...

(And on the backs of our bench!)

Seems like, based upon the trip to China, that the Wolves are playing fewer preseason games than any other team. Also seems like that will put them at a disadvantage given the roster turnover and the need to develop new chemistry.

I’m going to ageee. For the right deal I’d trade him. Not a max player. Not a high effort player. Not a win at all cost type player. More like a jack up enough shots so I get my 20 type player.
