Some say that McGary has a promise from Charlotte at 24

Very interesting. I was hearing late first round from most sources but thought I would report what NBAdraft.net was thinking.

Damn. DraftExpress has Philly getting Embiid and Gordon. What a haul that would be.

doogie

Lesser note: a few non-foreign players to watch w/ #Twolves in 2nd rd: Langston Hall (had a nice workout for them), Russ Smith, Appling.

Let it be Russ Smith. What a great replacement he would be for Barea.

An empty folding chair would be a great replacement for Barrea.

The Wolves should force them to sweeten the offer today before the draft because after the draft the Wolves lose a lot of options.

I tend to agree. It's clearly Flip's preferred trade. GS is just negotiating for the best possible deal. They just need to stop being stupid and let go of Barnes. Love/Martin for Thompson/Lee/Barnes would be a great trade for them.

A little Russ SMith Video

http://www.draftexpress.com/video/6020/

DL how do the metrics like Russ? Besides his unreal quickness and scoring ability he is supposed to be an excellent defender as well. Is the size thing really a deal breaker? One down side besides his size is his A/TO ratio is poor despite his having incredible ball handling skills. Doesn't give up the ball as much as he should.

They won't. I think there is a better chance of #13 going to GS than Flip getting a future pick.

I also think this deal makes it vastly more likely we draft Payne (if we keep 13)....

If they want our pick in the deal I am out of it. If we trade Love and want Payne I say we risk trading back for say Chicago's 16-19 if we can get those.

G.S.' future first round picks aren't going to be very good anyway. And they're way in the future, which is another problem.

If Flip actually trades a top 5 player in the league for a couple of journeymen, he could arguably be considered in the running with Kahn for worst Wolves GM ever.

I know I am probably making people sick of what I am saying about Russ Smith but one more huge positive about him is that he is that player that can create his own shot whenever he wants it. He is simply too quick and handles the ball too well to be contained.

I'd be fine with him in the 2nd. I'm not sure he'll make it at his size/weight, but he's got talent.

Those picks might not be for a while and they might not be very good but getting them is better than not getting them. Lee and Thompson are far from being journeymen. I am not saying it is perfect but it does allow us to be a decent team for the next couple of years and if Klay grows into true stardom which I think is possible we could continue to be a decent team. No not league champion but no matter what we do we are not going to be league champion.

If Flip includes #13 with Love for a deal that brings back Lee, Thompson and Barnes, he should fired immediately.

I can't imagine us giving up the pick. That's probably being leaked from GS and is just part of the negotiating. Hopefully we can snag a future pick in the deal. You never know what might happen in the next couple of years.

Have we expressed a preference of Barnes vs Green? Just curious which one we would be trying to get included in the deal.

Can future trade compensation be predicated on team performance in the NBA. Say if we trade Love to GS and they win the NBA title they need to give us their first rounder next year. I don't seem to recall deals like that in the NBA.

Trading with GS is just simply a terrible idea. Why get a couple guys who are set to get big paydays when their overrated? Take the picks from Boston and build your own team. Clear some cap space so when your young guys come of age you can keep them. This franchise just keeps paying big money for spare parts and are simply going nowhere fast.

If the trade is made before the draft, the earliest pick they can give us is 2019.

If the trade is made after the draft, they can give us 2015 (and then the next pick would be 2019).

I'd take Green. He's a fantastic defender at either forward spot. Not much of an offensive player yet, but definitely a top 7 or 8 guy on a contending team.

Green. But I wouldn't make that trade either. I would still prefer a trade with Boston assuming we can get at least three first-round picks (#6 for certain).

Levine would prefer Green, so that means Flip wants Barnes
