My oldest Son is Age 9, probably the best practice player on his team, disappears at times during the games because he’s not real agressive. I’ve been getting pressure from other parents and coaches to put him on a year round team and give up basketball and baseball. My response is that I couldn’t care less about him playing HS soccer, or winning a tournament, that none of the kids on the team are getting a scholarship ( they hate hearing that) and oh by the way, his baseball coach says the same thing to me and I say the same thing to him. There are a TON of kids playing year round soccer, but they’re not getting better, they’re simply giving their parents more Facebook material and they’re not getting one ounce of toughness or competitive fire. If you play in 20 youth tournaments a year how important are they to win?
