Has there ever been any consideration about adding 1 more forum under the Other Minnesota Sports section to allow threads for other MN teams? For example, Minnesota State-Mankato, St Cloud St, UMD, etc.

What is the deal with our wretched "Search" tab? It can't complete the simplest request, even if I list the author and the forum and I use a keyword that is extremely specific to my search? Waddup?

The soccer threads need to be cleaned up. There are too many overlapping subjects.

Dan - count me among those who have brought it up in the past. I just brought it up again hoping that there is actually something we can do about it.

Does the PMing feature work here or ... ?

Or are Brad H and Pager just ignoring me?

Also, is there a way to get notified on here when someone quotes/replies to you? What about a tag feature?

I think I can answer the first three questions:

Yes, the PM feature works. I just received a fresh PM from someone two days ago, yelling at me about something.

I don't know if Brad H or Pager are ignoring you. If their mailbox is full, you'd get a pop-up that tells you that when you send something, so that's probably not the problem. Sometimes people post something in a thread like - "Hey Brad, check your inbox. I just sent you my mom's chocolate chip cookie recipe" (if that's what you sent).

I'm pretty sure there isn't any notification capability, the way it's done on Facebook, to let you know if someone replies to you. You just have to keep following the threads to see.

And for a question you DIDN'T ask? Everyone here is irritated that the search function doesn't work.

There is a PM notification feature. You can activate it in the My Profile section.

Thanks!

I got the PMing thing figured out. For a second there, I thought maybe I had to have so many posts before I could PM. Sometimes communities are set up that way to prevent nonsense/spamming. So, I was just making sure that wasn't the case.

That's too bad about the notification capabilities. I looked in the settings, and I didn't see anything, so I assumed that was the case. But man, it's such a nice feature. That way you know instantly if someone replied to you or not - and it makes it so much easier to keep discussion flowing. However, I also understand this is an older board ... and I've just been spoiled with recent technology/shiny tools. lol.

No worries on the search function. I've realized that at most forums, they don't work that great anyway. Sometimes I know the exact freaking title of a thread and who created it, and Proboards still struggles to find it. I'm like, "What the heck?!?! I've given you the title and the thread creator and you still can't find it?!?!" So, yeah, don't feel too badly ... search functions are oftentimes pretty junky!

http://www.aspplayground.net/community/top-upgrade-reasons#special

An eventual upgrade?

If I'm reading this correctly, it probably takes care of the notifications issue (and so much more). And, really, gets you a huge upgrade overall, and therefore, likely a better, smoother experience. Also, if I'm reading this correctly, as people continue to upgrade browsers and whatnot, this older version might have some serious issues.

Just an FYI. I'm slacking a bit today and looking into random things. Figured I'd mention it!

Simple answe..

No..
