In a vacuum this isn't terrible but holy hell. A LOT depends on what's next. You just simply can't afford C position of:

Larkin (or pencil in your #1 of choice)
JEE
McCarron
Hartman

So, either BG is pretty confident he can deal either JEE, or RH, or we simply try to run it back. There just isn't enough cash to go around. Just an off the wall guess:

Hart
Wall
Stram
for Larkin

Hart or Brodin....Stramel or Yurov.

Seems that it means no Tarasenko or Zuccarello either?

The consensus of the alleged insiders is that the Wild will have to give up either Yurov or Wallstedt as the top piece in a deal for Larkin. Stramel, Hartman and the Wild's 2027 first rounder also get mentioned a lot.

Russo seems pretty convinced Spurgeon and Brodin are staying......I think it is ground hogs day depending on them to stay healthy......JEE is getting to that place also.

Is there a way to turn Hartman, Spurgeon, Brodin, and JEE into Matthews and Larkin + (Even if it takes one or two of Stramel/Yurov/Wallstedt/Spacek)?

TBH, I give up Yurov in a heartbeat for Larkin if it means keeping Wally.

Yeah, I just don't see them giving up Wally in this deal. Yurov on the other hand has to be our top asset to dangle in any trade.

Agreed. Before the playoffs, Wally was available and even offered for Thomas. Wally clearly seized the top job in the playoffs, which likely changes his status. Now the question for our panel of experts....what if Detroit insists on Wally instead of Yurov?

I've heard/read theories on why Gus was so 'meh' down the stretch and most of it surrounds his hip injury. IF we have to give up Wally for Larkin, I would do it. Larkin is a true #1 C and was almost a point per guy his entire career, wins over 50% of his FO's and has great leadership traits. He's also still only 29 which kind of surprised me when I looked it up.

From what I understand Detroit has a couple of highly rated goalie prospects including one that was drafted ahead of Wally. If they insist on Wally, then they will need to throw one of their top goalie prospects into the deal.

Their top guy requested a trade from what I read which might indicate that he knows that Wally is being discussed (?).

I mentioned when the Gus extension was signed that I hated the timing of it. He has a NTC and now has a hip "issue" that required surgery. I really like Larkin but I would be be much more comfortable moving Gus and other assets.

For me, the only untouchables, that anyone would trade for, are:

KK
Boldy
Faber
Hughes (assuming you already know he'll resign)
JEE

The surprising thing for me is that we have seemingly no interest in keeping our backup goalie that performed good in the Olympics, Samuel Hlavaj especially after seeing that the same thing happened to the Wall the prior year in Iowa.

Sounds like Billy and Yzerman are at an impasse over Wallstedt. Larkin has expanded the list of teams he accept trades to. I'm not optimistic at this point.

Yo man, please don't come in here with that while we are basking in the glow of the North Carolina Waves beating the Santa Fe Golden Sheets. What a final (assuming, since I didn't watch a second of it).

I have to admit I watched last night and love the way Carolina plays the game. Fast and always pushing the pace when they have the puck and pressuring the puck when they don't have it. They deserved the cup they way they played. Vegas never got into their game and were completely shut down by the Canes.

As for Larkin, I don't think we have what Detroit wants and don't believe he will help as much as some think for what he will cost.

As Jeff said earlier, we need an upgrade on D more than we need a 1C. We are solid on D when Brodin and Spurgeon are healthy, but lacking without them. If Hughes and Faber have to play 30 minutes a night we aren't going anywhere so that is where we need the help.

I'm just jealous. I'm tired of all these Mason Dixon teams winning cups when we can't even make it out of the first round

NHL Rumors has a 3 team trade with Rangers, Detroit, and us.

To Minnesota Larkin
To Detroit. Trocheck, Yurov
To Rangers Wild 2027 1st, Hartman, Brink.

Also rumor is we checked in on Barzal (NY Islanders) last offseason and De Marco is saying the Wild have been asking about Tippett from the Flyers.

Can confirm #mnwild were on Brady Tkachuk’s list submitted to Ottawa a few weeks ago. Wild made a huge offer, so I think at end of day Brady made decision to go to Florida.

My understanding is the Senators also had conversations with Carolina and Vegas, other teams that were on Tkachuk's list. I also think Minnesota was on the list. Four-team list but in the end, Brady obviously wanted to go join his brother in Florida.

Couple of sentences from Russo:

This will be a big couple weeks for the Wild. Alongside Friday and Saturday’s draft comes trade season, then the opening bell of free agency July 1.

As we’ve reported a lot, the Wild are one of a number of teams heavily pursuing Detroit Red Wings center Dylan Larkin. Larkin originally had Minnesota as one of the three teams he told Detroit he would welcome a trade to, although it has been reported that Larkin has been open to expanding that list for the Red Wings.

Other centers potentially out there via trade this offseason include the New York Rangers’ Vincent Trocheck and the Anaheim Ducks’ Mason McTavish. Or the Wild could conceivably go the winger route: Matthew Knies and Jordan Kyrou were Nos. 5 and 7 on Chris Johnston’s most recent trade board. League sources did tell The Athletic on Sunday that Minnesota was on the trade list Brady Tkachuk submitted to Ottawa, and the Wild made a big offer before he was dealt Sunday to the Florida Panthers.

But because the Wild have so many balls in the air, we reported last week that the team has hit the brakes on re-signing pending free agents like Mats Zuccarello and Vladimir Tarasenko. The Wild still have a lot of interest in re-signing Zuccarello and feel there’s still time, but they also haven’t felt they can sign him until they see where the trade market goes this week into next.
